| HI All Since getting my CT call sign, we have all been asked to stay at home which means no radio because I was only operating mobile. Not yet got round to putting an antenna up at my QTH. I have still got my discone RX only, but thinking about it, if I bought an ATU perhaps could use my endfeed long wire any thoughts. Radio is a grant 2. Regards Paul. | |

| Its quite surprising what you can tune and RX on but a long wire would be a huge compromise as most on 11m use a vertical antenna but hey why not give it a go..
I had a monoband inverted v for 20m band that with some tuning worked very well on 11m but it was over 30ft in the air with not much around to ruin signal..

| You could roll yourself a Coax dipole (T2LT) and hang it off a tree or tape it onto a telescopic fibreglass pole | |

| If your car is on a driveway just run a long length of coax from it into the house and use the mobile antenna on the car. | |

Dont laugh TBH if he lives up high and has a balcony on the flat that would work pretty well, when we was first on CB in the AM illegal days my cousin use have one on his balcony in 4th floor flat he use get out pretty well cos of the hight plus that's all we could use really so we didnt get spotted . Just a thought can you still get DV27's

| If you have any wire you could make a 1/4 wave vertical 2.75m wire for a radiator and a couple of 2.75m lengths for ground plane join the radiator to coax inner and groundplanes to coax braid. Tape the radiator to a 8ft cane and lay the ground plane wires along the ground. that is a cheap and easy way to get going from home. from Nigel | |

| Hi Paul. Since I came back on air some 7 months ago, I'm still relying on my trusty Dipole in the loft. Not allowed any external antenna. For a few £s they are easy to make and just using a SWR meter you can get it pretty resonant. I've got it inverted. Plenty of plans on Internet. It does well at both getting the locals and DXing - just last week I had QSO's into Eastern Hungary + North Italy on 8 watts! Anyway, just an idea for you. Enjoy your radio! Cheers Stay safe 73's Dale 26-CT-3550 | |

| I would think lots including my self a dv27 on a tin lid a dustbin lid I bought 4 lumps of steel sheet and put them in the loft and the went onto the flat bit of the roof and a mag and dv27 and it worked very well and the a 6ft fire stick and that worked great but had and base antenna on the back of the house so keep the fire stick for mid bands and the base antenna for uk40 | |
