They are a lot of radio for a low price I have literally had hours of fun with mine, giving one down to a friend in the next town who was amazed that we could speak to one another.
I swapped the antennas out for Nagoya 771's and purchased a gooseneck tactical antenna and was able to listen to a ship call in at four ports around the coast it even outperforms the Nagoya when folded but it is a good size and a little awkward to work with so use the 771's most of the time.
Where were the radios like that when I was young is what I would like to know?
