I used to use CB from 1981, moved away to other activities but never lost my interest in radio, but only recently listened again on 11m now I have the unplanned time to do so. I was fascinated to hear the strong European stations sounding exactly like they did almost 40 years ago! I live in the Brighton area and suffer from vast amounts of electrical interference, probably most of it caused by broadband, but also very noisy white nose type background on CB channels which flickers on the meter around 7-9 all the time, so I guess I will have to go out in my car to make the best of this. I still have my original 6ft Moonraker vertical but the radio is much newer. I disconnected the phone line and mains power and the interference is not coming from inside my home. I don't have much space for aerials outside so I must just make the best of what I have. Some questions: Apart from SSB, do most people generally use FM rather than AM on the EU band? I'm guessing that Ch19 is mostly used for FM/AM calling? Or do people call on any channel? Years ago you could call anywhere and get a reply. I must try to get onto one of the regular nets and see what range I can get from the car.
Could I plase have a callsign?

Hello Dom, welcome to the forum.
I am delighted to allocate you 26-CT-3604 may you have good luck with it.
Frequencies and modes vary a lot depending on where you are. Check out the "Nets and Skeds" section for the south east.
