No idea who he is and not interested tbh but he has a lot to say and with a video about 11m and Ham bands at the same time he knows how to get viewing figures....
Seems to keep most radio ops happy with the sentiment of keeping all radio going whatever the bands used but he misssed the point that 11m has far more to it than just .555
but hey he seems harmless enough..even if in another video he likes to blow his own trumpet somewhat...

Elitism has whats held me back from sitting the HAM Exams, now at 52 I find myself doing it because I should of ignored them in the first place. It's called 'Amateur Radio' for a reason, lets remember that. I know of some great HAM guys who don't suffer 'Call Sign' Mania who are both HAM operators and CB operators, I'd rather focus on those types and use my log book as an 'Avoid List' for those who live with their head up their ionospheric backsides somewhere in the 'Z' Layer

I watch videos by CB guys and Hams, they all seem decent folk who I enjoy hearing their views but there is something about Mr Mohican I just can't take to I don't know if it is his condescending manner or inherent smugness...maybe a bit of both!

I've watched a few of his vids Sam and I also have come to the conclusion he can be a bit of a sarcastic git sometimes and two faced, one minute he seems all for CB and Amateur to be as one then he's slagging of CB then has a little dig a the Amateurs ,dont really get the guy TBH , all I know is you know when you see someone and you've never spoke or met but you know you not gonna like them his the type to me, I did find some info about him allegedly he owns a radio antenna company.

Im more than happy to take info from those more informed than myself IF they give their opinions without coming across as a total nob..Too many radio guys (Ham/CB) think they are the bees knees when in fact this is a Amateur hobby used by many as something to do when something more important is not happening..
He seems like one of those....

He has been on YouTube for quite a while ,and at first I thought his pretty good with info about radio but as time goes on and you watch more of his videos you realise he is a 100% nob really, mind you most of these types after a while run out of stuff to say and either rehash some of the stuff what they posted before because they have run out of stuff to say or just become joke.

I've chatted with Callum McCormick, M0MCX many times one oneoto-one basis and he's a really nice guy. He has created a larger than life persona for his YouTube channel. He does come a cross as a bit of a maverick with his mohawk which has been bright green or purple in the past and definitely has strong opinions much in the same way Piers Morgan or Katie Hopkins court controversy. They say all publicity is good publicity and I'm sure it does his YouTube subs no harm. He also owns DX Commander, a ham antenna business and his products are very well respected amongst amateurs as they deliver huge performance at a modest price.
Since lockdown started Callum has held a daily 80m net around 3.756MHz at 11.00 in the morning for all the older hams who are shielding. He livestreams it on his channel. It is well supported and for many it is the only interaction they get all day. Yes, he's a bit of a Marmite character but is only guilty of having strong opinions and playing Devil's Advocate.

Good to see he has some fans and of course i have only seen his videos to go by and there is nowt wrong in strong opinions just as others have the right to disagree or dislike them/him..
Marmite yes and the lockdown net thingy is a worthy thing to do of course...I have a thing about condescending people and its quite prevalent here imho.
Just my opinion based on the couple of videos ive seen..

The good thing about Callum's video is that it may have just motivated a few people to investigate the world of amateur radio. I keep a foot in both camps but always actively encourage people to stretch themselves and go for their ticket. Without new blood entering the hobby and using the bands, we run the risk of losing them forever. Of course there will always be the "old guard" who will look down on new licence holders but they are getting fewer and fewer as the years go by.
I make a point of welcoming newbies to the band and am always up for a chat about anything and everything, it doesn't have to be radio related. There has never been an easier time to go for your ticket. During lockdown, practicals have been suspended and the exam is currently done online so there are no classroom nerves. The Essex Ham website offers free training, here's their video:

Oh I agree, it was actually this forum that convinced me to do it and take a foundation course. I've been pondering it since the late 80s but its reputation back then was it was 'Too Square' and was full of 'Cardigans' getting off on copper coils etc, It wasn't a late Teenagers thing I suppose at that time within my circle (Mostly CB'ers) Friends.
My personal career has always been RF based, from GRU in the RAF, through to ending up a Senior Engineer with Thales / Thomson Broadcast on the IOT TV Transmitter division during the UK DTV transitions a decade ago. Funny now as I approach the final years of my career, I've come back to CB and now going for the HAM operators license, with hindsight should of done it years ago. Good news is its getting the interest of my Teenage Son. I guess I'm the one now wearing the Cardigan and into coils

Thought I would give this DX Commander the benefit of doubt and watch a load of his YouTube waffle , well I've come to the conclusion yes maybe he knows his technical stuff ,i should hope so considering his business he runs but he is definitely the most self opinionated ar*hole I've heard for a long time he is so two faced and rude ,he definitely hates cb dont matter what he says you can tell it he dont even like Foundation Amateurs according to him you got be a idiot if you dont pass the exam for it ,so in his eyes people with dyslexia or who have a other disability are idiots in his eyes, I know of people who would like to take the test but are put off by people like him with that attitude, I'll admit it I'm dyslexic and I failed the foundation exam even though I told them at RSGB and I got no extra help and I'm not a idiot Mr DX Commander ,sorry to rant but I think the man and all his cronies are the same its people like him and his followers that totally put me off Amateur radio, I'm glad to be 27mhz pirate and will stay one .

It is a bit of a cheap shot to record bad language on the CB or to compare the hectic calling frequency of .555 to Amateur radio practises I feel but it is very much what our mainstream media do on a daily basis, sensationalism to provoke an emotional response in the audience.
It is not unlike tabloid journalism which relies on these techniques to pull in an audience who always seem to come back for more tittle-tattle and gossip and not to my taste at all.
It is a shame as having looked into the chap he does know his stuff, seems to good work for the community and his antennas seem good quality at a fair price but he strikes me as disenegenuios and always seems to be running one group or another down this time it was 160m users, who may indeed be a quirky bunch, I don't know but to continually run different groups of people down to gain viewers I am sorry to say, strikes me as a bit low class!

I think you may of hit the nail on the head Alan, 'Divide & Rule' Funnily enough both a British Empire & Marxist tactic designed to control and dictate to the Plebs and give the impression, you can't do without being managed and controlled by those in power & 'Government'. On a macro level, this also works in the 'Entertainment and YouTube' community. Hey, what would we do without 'Advice' and 'Lectures' from those Z List Hollywood / Elstree / Footballer inbreds that constantly tell us, they are far better than us! Even in Sport, Mr 'Walkers Crisps' Linekar espews out these traits on Twatter.
With regards to Callum, I hope its just a bit of banter, I do like his content and what he does with his 'Net' and business venture, but i do cringe when he starts to sarcastically bash the CB community, even at times trying to play devils advocate when in fact, his *Amateur* Radio snobbishness shines through. I'm a CB user who late in life is now going for my HAM radio license, despite for the last 35 years being qualified as a High Powered Radio & TV Snr. Transmitter Engineer for Thales / Thomson Broadcast and now Arqiva. The Reason I mention this is many show their HAM Radio snobbery to me by constantly asking me 'Oh, you must be an Amateur Radio Operator like me' to which I reply, no, I do Professional Radio & CB Radio, not *Amateur* (Wish I Could Photograph Their Expressions).
This snobbery can work at all levels and I hate it. As Radio Enthusiast, no matter at what level you are at, we should be supporting each other. Yes, Jokes are jokes but to blanket judge folks is just wrong. The best people I have ever met have been within the CB community, I'm sure there are a few within the HAM community too, I hope to seek them out.
