| Hi everyone. I used to be on CB a bit back in the early 90s before getting into SWL and scanners more. Looking to get back into the hobby again alongside taking my foundation amateur licence. I'm not sure that my old Barracuda will be up to much these days after 20+ years in storage and the old thunderpole is long gone. Seriously considering a CRT with the 10m band added. Will this rig do ssb or is it just am/FM? | |

| Hello Paul,
The CRT-2000 is AM-FM only. A nice little radio but no SSB is a deal buster for me because so many people use it now you'll probably find yourself upgrading sooner rather than later.

| Shame as the reviews I've seen do seem to be quite positive and it's a great looking rig. I'll just have to dig a bit deeper and go for the 6900 unless there are any decent alternatives.

I can't tell you how many times I nearly bought that radio Paul. If you are only likely to chat locally on AM/FM it's a great radio, nice looking as well! The problem will come if you find there isn't a lot of activity in your area and if you want to enjoy DX possibilities that's nearly always going to require SSB. It's a case of buy right buy once I guess. 73's Gary. | |
