Hi All

Easy fix or not, I have a as new Zetagi TM-1000 SWR Meter, which I sold on e-bay, posted the item very well packed second class sign form, only to find out that it got damaged in transit, the SWR meter does not work now, the needle was pointing at 1, and was work fine, now the needle does not move and is pointing just below the 1.. worth fixing or bin time.

Thank you

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andy,

Worth fixing? Depends on whether you can fix it yourself. If you're not into repairs then someone else is gonna charge you to fix it.

Sometimes meter needles get a little stuck from a knock and a carefully thought out 'tap' can free it. However, you could also make it worse. If you're just bunging it back on eBay then it might be worth trying the 'tapping' it route before posting it as spares or repairs if that doesn't work.

Otherwise you're going to be hunting down a hard to find replacement meter, or gaining the eyesight and dextrous fingers of a watchmaker to attempt a meter repair! Wink

Personally, I give it a bit of a shake and tap to see if the needle frees up.

I've seen postal workers in action...... I'm sure they think 'fragile' is Italian for 'chuck it in the back of the van as hard as you can!' Very Happy
(We used to scream at our local parcel force guy - FRAH-GILL-EEE all in good humour of course)

All the best,
Victor

Hi Andy,

Magnet might seem a good idea but a meter is a tiny and fragile electromagnetic device...a magnet will definitely kill it!

Like I said, try giving it a knock and shake, gentle like.

Hope you get it sorted.
