Good evening, I, like a lot of others here got into CB after spending time in the states back in the 70's. Once back in the UK I had a number of AM rigs before 27/81. I'd been involved in the forming of a club local to where I lived then, and campaigned for legalisation. We had great times. And now.... the old Maxcom rig was brought back down from the loft and dusted off!! Not surprised to find the usual Music palyers, dead key'ers and burners swamping ch19. Some things don't change eh? I quickly learned about the tech (and legal) changes to CB which prompted the purchase of a new multi channel rig and of course the discovery of CT DX Happy days! I now have two new rigs and I'm experimenting with home made dipoles, also learning how to repair rigs (after reverse polarity incident ) Looking forward to being able to get into networking at some point or just catching a passing CT contact, so for that may I have a call sign please?

You are welcome, Mike. Good luck with the net. There have been some good openings into Scandinavian and Europe too, recently.

Not sure what times, they seem to pop up most evenings. IOW join in too.
If you are a face book user, ask to join the solentradiogroup - mix of CB and ham, plenty of daily chat - I'm still on there to keep in touch with old mates

Hello
Stumbling around the internet has led me to this group and revived my interest in CB radio. It looks very different now to when I was first "on-air" in the '80s, mobile and enthusiastic. Thanks to a "gammie" leg and now creeping into my early 70's I am thinking of setting up again but this time "Home Based" for CB's social value (I'm Home Alone all day while my wife works to try and keep me in the manner to which I'd like to become accustomed) rather than a huge technical interest and ability .... which I certainly do not have at all, but then again you don't have to be able to build a Ferrari to enjoy driving it! So that's me starting on a journey. I will be asking some really daft questions.....PLEASE be patient and understanding

Hi Pedlar,
That's a brilliant intro, but could you make a new post of your own in the new members section as per instructions in red letters on the front page. Just makes it easy for the admins and mods to find you if you're after a Charlie Tango callsign, (I assume you are?) If so, could you also enter your first name in your profile
Cheers mate & all the best, Victor
