I'm going to be hanging out on 27.005 LSB every evening from 20:30 - so if anyone wants to drop in please throw out a call
Great QTH for Chelmsford, Epping Forest, East Herts and the City.
We're a stones-throw from a nice part of radio history here that has long since gone quiet (read: North Weald Ongar Radio Station) so it's time to put some Watts back into the air!
Hope to hear you guys soon!

Nice one Rory,
I hope you get some contacts and it all works out well for you.
Don't forget to shout out every now and then, people can be mic-shy and if you do get a QSO pause every so often to invite others in. Remember you're also on Channel 4 of the EU/Mid band so be prepared to switch modes as some people may only have AM/FM capabilities and every contact is a good contact
I'll pop on frequency and give it a go, but TBH although you're inline with me through the Chilterns gap I've never heard beyond Stevenage. CB can be fickle.... I've chatted to Germany, (and rest of Europe), but yet to get some good UK contact.
I wish you success
All the best, Victor

Thanks Victor. Yes, you are right, we are well aligned through the Chilterns. About 50 miles as the crow flies. We can only try.
I've noticed the "gaps" in contact distance, which I put down to ionosphere height v's time of day. Every QTH has its ideal time due to RF reflection angles I suppose. We had the same issue a few weeks ago. I had clear contact with Canning Town but could barely hear Palmers Green, despite being closer.
Thank you for your advice, as always. I'll switch mode if people can't run SSB - the more the merrier. I'll shout out every five minutes or so in case there are listeners.

Gave it a shot tonight Rory but no luck my way. Had S5 or so of hash to start but dropped to S2 after sunset. Called multiple times then moved off for a scan around the band around 21:20.
Did catch an Inverness station on 27.515 only to be told abruptly by another station with a Blackpool accent to hold off my QSK(!) He then chatted to a station in Liverpool but after listening for 20 minutes with him spouting on about his first CB in '73 and how he knew the world and everyone in it I flipping gave up. Never got called in, didn't hear the Scottish guy again and the poor guy from Liverpool wasn't getting an over in either!! Ha! DXing at it's best eh?
Never mind mate, wasn't a complete waste as I got to enjoy sitting on the radio for a bit. I shall give you another shot through the week.
Hope you got something your way mate.
All the best, Victor

Hi Victor, Yes, could not hear you unfortunately. I’m determined to crack this though! We just need the right conditions. (Or Yagis!) No one else came in on 005. I left about 21:15. Italians and French keying over each other and singing on 555, so I scanned the UKFM and found a net on ch35. North London guys. Still on now at midnight. Addictive this!

Rory, if you pointed a beam at me and I to you, together we could warm up Stevenage!
I wouldn't worry mate, for 27MHz we're probably in each others dead zone, not close enough and not far enough apart.
I put my Inverness reception down to a short skip across the greyline as it was about the right time.
Glad you found a net though! Happy days! I'm afraid my small hours antics are beyond my cocoa time nowadays though
Keep at it Rory, it's all the fun of radio.
Sitting at that radio river bank waiting for a bite, maybe small nibbles and the odd false strike, sit there patiently and hold on true, for the biggest catches often come from out of the blue!
All the best, Victor
