I got some encouragement an hour ago (12:00 BST) by hearing what seemed like somebody tuning up by whistling into the mike on 27.185, LSB. This was on my short wire in the attic. I couldn't attempt a contact because I must build a proper antenna first. I'm in SW Ireland, not far from the Atlantic coast.

Could be. I've just heard a French pile-up on 27.195 USB, including somebody sending CW - all faint but just about readable. Same time (16:30 BST).

That's just normal little bits of sporadic skip ,I wouldn't get too excited lads ,as for idiots who do Morse/CW on 27mhz they pi55 me off they should go and do there Amateur ticket and do on the appropriate frequencies or go on 10m and leave 11m alone

I reckon there must be something going on right now. I'm getting all sorts of maybe Spanish, Italian, Russian(?) and other EE languages on EU34LSB... sounds like a complete bun-fight!

Yes, I can hear them now (14:10). Some weak and unreadable, but some (Italians) solid and very readable. Russians very weak. I'm on the West coast of Ireland.

I have felt disillusioned with radio over the years and often leave it all be for sometime and concentrate on other hobbies, coming back refreshed.
I have had a couple of months break but switched on at the weekend just gone and spent a good few hours working Russia,Spain and Portugal and had a great time..Putting the beam up helped with contacts and my enthusiasm.
