What a great day for listening on T5, and it's still going. France Italy Spain Germany. This French station was typical. Can't wait to finish my magnetic loop antenna. Link to video.

I had a couple of hours up at the dx location. Lots of activity across the band. I listened into 2/44 working lots of Europe from Florida on 27.395 lsb. I gave the Cobra 148/President Jack/Stalker 9fdx a work out. Had some nice contacts into Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain and Luxembourg, all on radio power.

Cheers, Martin. They both fairly standard radios. The Cobra has the 10kc mod on the channel 9 switch and the Jack has the mod on the tone switch to give it high band. The Jack came from France and is in good condition. It has the box, instructions (all in French, lol) and even has the President sticker too.

The Cobras are great radios, Martin. I also have a Superstar 360fm. That has the 10kc shift mod and switchable beep. It also has a p.i.c. chip to give me the UK40 and the stealth front on it. Both radios are mk2s.
I would love to get my hands on a black fronted President Grant export. A mate lent me one back in the day, complete with Silver Eagle mic. He wouldn't sell it me though. So expensive, when they come up for sale.

A quiet day today for DX. All I heard was one local squawk.

All i heard was drip drip through my shed roof. Wouldn't mind but i had it re-felted this summer but the prat has put a joint in a short run going the wrong way. So all covered with plastic and bath towels till morning as i only found out when every where was shutting.

The main difference between the Grant and the export (sometimes called dx version) was greater frequency coverage, Martin.

I think it will be a good weekend for DX. 11 AM I heard one of our own Charlie Tango members working a fella on the SE coast of Ireland. Not sure of the call signs of either, but I think the CT member was Dave. I still can't transmit, but that will change soon.

Was a very random copy John, I just had the old Lincoln on scan which I never do TBH cos the radio is so old I didn't think the scan worked properly lol but it did it, was totally dead then it stopped on a faint voice ,then this voice started to get louder and stronger signal and I heard him calling a Welsh station then a French I thought this is interesting all he kept doing was the old 5/9 itl bit to all but couldn't get his call sign so I just gave a shout to see if I could get him on my second call he called back ,I was very surprised when he said 3 division San Paulo Brazil, and very pleased haven't had a decent copy like that for quite a while.

Yesterday afternoon for about 2 hours, the DX was cracking good. I could hear a worldwide contest. Lots and lots of Alpha Tango calling out to the contest. I wonder who organizes contests like that.
Edit: I did a bit of Googling - it looks like Alpha Tango group organizes contests.
