Hi to all members. I am new, very new, to CB radio. I drive up and down the A1 / M11 / M25 / A2 a lot and thought it would be nice to communicate with other like minds either mobile or static. After considering for a while I purchased a Thunderpole T-800 complete with Apollo mag mount aerial, sorry Antenna (newbie to terminology). I am pleased with the radio as it appears robust and well built with basic controls that suite me at the moment. I chose this kit as the Apollo antenna seemed the better option for the roof of my very economical Ford Fusion flying up and down motorways etc. I have now purchased a basic SWR / Power meter. My question to you all is that I realise the Apollo antenna is not the best so do you have a recommended sub 1m long antenna that would be worth me upgrading to in the future. Thanks for reading my first introductory post. Keep Safe. Nearly forgot. Could I have a call sign please.

Hi Steve,
Welcome to Charlie Tango DX.
Your profile is filled and ready to go, so will be a nice easy job for our Mr Gary Wilson to issue you a call sign.
Nice intro and good to see someone new gaining the CB bug I'm afraid I can't help you with your mag mount question, (they don't stick to my plastic motorbike fairing ), but there are many helpful members here so I'm sure someone will provide some input for you.
All the best, Victor

Thanks for your prompt reply Victor. From what I have seen of the forum every one seems very helpful so I am sure I will get all the help I need. Time permitting I would like to expand my radio knowledge so the CB band is my first step.

Hello Steve, welcome to the forum.
I am delighted to allocate you 26-CT-3820 may you have good luck with it.
There are many antenna options available but the problem is anything a meter or shorter will be a compromise for the 11 meter band. My mobile antenna is a Wilson 1000 at around 2 meters long and works very well indeed. I would post the question in the antennas section of the forum because not everyone reads introductions.

Hi Gary thanks for the call sign 26-CT-3820. I was looking at the shorter Wilson antenna and from what I have read I agree that the shorter one would be a compromise. Thanks again and I look forward to many years association with forum.
