Subject: CRT Xenon has arrived ???? Fri Nov 06, 2020 4:37 pm
So my new rig arrived today and I sat in the car on my drive (Due to current lockdown) trying to get a mic check on 19, but unfortunately no response.
But regardless it’s a lovely colour

Looks tiny Gary , I can believe how small radios are getting now lol, when you actually get a contact let us know what you think of the radio I'm not use to these modern little radios , mine are old school big multimodes from the early 80s , anyway good luck with it mate.

That frequency read out on the screen is 100% Channel 19 on the EU Mid band it's not a wind up Gary it should read 27:781.25 for UKFM ch 19

Well that would explain a lot then.... lol.
So how would I change that? Because I moved it from EU to UK?

I have no idea Gary sorry mate ,does it not say in the owners manual?, but I can assure you mate that radio is in EU mode which TBH is a bit confusing because I have a President Teddy radio which is like same frequencies as your CRT all I do have to do is hold a button down switch it on then press another button to select what bands /country to set it for ,but my radio actually sayes EU when on that band and U when for UK FM ,so that's why I cant understand why yours says U and it's on the EU band ,TBH I would get in contact with the shop you got it from and ask. Shame you dont live nearer to me cos I would come and have a look but 200 mile is a bit far lol.

Oh no, you where right. But I went back out to my car, pressed the A/F button and all of a sudden it sprung to life. Got a radio check on channel 19 and totally ignored on channel 25 But at least it’s working. I won’t get chance to really try it out until next week now because I’m back at work tomorrow. But I’ll let you know how I go

Yes glad you sorted it and you have breakers in your aria as many have come back on and then given up due to the silence. I don't wind people up m8 well only sometimes but if i am winding you will know as i will put something at the end of the post to give a clue. I haven't heard a sound on uk-19 for years. In fact i never think of going on the uk fm as its silent where i live. I wish my new one was as easy to use but i will get the hang of it but it is the first ever radio i have had that doesn't have a squelch knob and that bit got me baffled straight off.

No one was more surprised than me that I actually got someone. Especially since I was sat on my drive in my car in a built up area near to Manchester Airport .
I am appreciating all the advice you guys are giving me though, because it’s been years since I’ve been on and I’ve forgotten everything.
However, like I said I can’t do anything with it at the moment because I’m now at work for the next four days (Currently hiding in the loo ). But as soon as I get something when I’m off, I’ll let you all know.

Can't think of any high ground in that area but that's what you want. Problem is the lockdown at the moment but plenty of time. When you do get out up high take a pen and pad as you won't remember all the contacts well i wouldn't lol. A4 pad is best comes in handy if your caught short that bit is a windup lol. SSB set for crimbo put one on your list then the world is your lobster.

All sounds good Al, but that depends if we ever do come out of lockdown at the rate we are going
Once I’ve got my head back round the old CB thing, that’s when I might invest in a SSB rig. Just don’t tell the Mrs

I'm thinking of getting a Xenon as my first Cb. What Antenna/mount do you have?
Thanks

Sorry Hamish the poster Gary is no longer a member so he wont answer your question, that's why you will see he is classed as a guest, it would be best for you to start your own new thread in this section asking anyone about your needs for a antenna mount . I posted this so you didn't think people ignore you on this forum.

Your welcome sorry I couldn't answer your initial question, as I didn't know what antenna or mount Gary used myself either.
