Ten metres SSB showed some life last night for the first time in five days here in IO81 , an Italian station first on 28450 then 28445 was working quite afew UK stations and was S5 to me but I was beaming South America and as I worked him back on the 8th I left him to it. A couple of Brazilian stations , one on 28.375 with echo LOL, Western Sahara, French Guiana and Chile were all heard but just to low for me to try and call .Maybe a sign things are starting to happen on the sporadic E front as it would certainly have needed a first E hop my end to complete the path by the MUF maps and Ionograms at the time.

I’m a bit to your West in IO71, the station in Western Sahara was +20 to me on occasions yesterday evening, but I couldn’t hear anything from S America!

The quote was from Wednesday night John but as regards last night ( Thursday) I did work S01WS but he was nowhere near +20 LOL maybe a S3 , also worked ZD7 right after and needed preamp2 for Peter. Missed out on Angola ( again) who was on band at same time . South America mainly PY but some LU and CX were also on last night but pretty low , I was still receiving LU5FC till about 21:45utc but didn't work any SA .

Well thats April pretty much done and a poor month for 10m SSB it was , still no first major European sporadic E opening here in IO81 whilst back in 2019 that happened on the 24th of April and the 25th for 2020. DXCC worked in the month was also way down on 2020 which was 31 where as this April only 14 Lets hope May shows some improvement .

Just worked Bonaire for #15 for the month LOL Only two different Bonaire stations for me at the death of April but I do know Martinique, Guadeloupe,Puerto Rico ,Ecuador and Venezula ( at least ) were worked by UK stations in the last few hours of the month. Sporadic E is back lol.

Well thats the month of May done and dusted , with the low Solar activity of recent years this has been the month to fill your boots with new DXCC for the year on 10m SSB , followed by June. There seemed to be less multi hop Sporadic E paths than last year although I did still work 62 DXCC in the month which was exactly the same for May 2020. June should bring more openings to the West and the chance to chase different States across the pond . Happy hunting and lets hope things get turned on their head with a rise in Solar activity and we get a bumper Winter season. 73

03/06/21 What a night for sporadic E on 10m SSB , we have had nights before where North America , the Caribbean , South America , Europe and the UK ( backscatter ) have been on air at the same time via late night Es but not to often and they are abit special . Some of the Canadian guys were coming in at an S9 ! Two YV2's ( Prince Edward Island ) and a WP4 ( Puerto Rico ) ITL followed on from a D4 ( Cape Verde) abit earlier in the evening .

Thats June over and done with , not to bad a month for 10m SSB although the lack of DX from the East and to the Caribbean was clear from last year. Fifty one DXCC worked in the month including Israel,Cape Verde,Canada,Puerto Rico,Brazil,Kuwait,Georgia,Barbados,St. Helena,USA,Mauritania and Uruguay.

Well done on those, that's impressive! I'm new to 10m (new to everything other than 11m lol) so am mostly listening at the moment to see how people work. I managed a few contacts in the past week and half though, but not so mega distances as yours. My first 10m contact was Lithuania. I have also managed Slovenia and Serbia.

No worries. I did hear Ireland in the end, early evening, and managed to get back to them for a decent length QSO.
Overall I have had a good day on 10m... Italy and Germany contacts as mentioned earlier, plus an additional one into Italy. Switzerland, Spain, Poland, Ireland (as just mentioned), Scotland, and Croatia (which was being remotely worked from Cocoa Beach Florida).
All operators were really friendly, complimentary of my little station, and some offered tips for DXing. Feeling very pleased and happy that there are some very nice people out there

Had my first out of Europe contact this evening, VO1FOG. About the closest point to us that you can get in Canada, but I'll take it. More than just a short sig report exchange too, very nice talking with him. A real confidence boost for my little station

Via the HF world championship contest yesterday and today I managed contacts with a few new to me countries on 10 including Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovi, Czech Republic and Ukraine. Heard Israel and USA, but couldn't fight through to be heard. Anyone take part, or manage a contact with any of the participants?
Current total of 22 countries on this band since getting my licence a few weeks ago. The force conditions are with me Haven't had my 1st England contact yet though, who's it gonna be...
