Subject: Intro and a CT c/s request (issued) Thu Jan 21, 2021 4:07 pm
Hi
I'm having a mid life crisis. Normally that involves getting a motorbike (but actually I've just got rid of 3) but I've got all nostalgic about family holidays to South Wales in the late 70's with Aunty Mary CB obsessed family friends, and later in the early 80's mucking about with ludicrously priced Harrier CB kit bought on HP from Dixons... or shonky cheaper stuff bought from Tandy. As I now live in a rural area where a few of my farming mates still use CB I thought I'd re-acquaint myself with the hobby and maybe get one or two of my kids enthused as a joint venture.
I've used radio kit professionally in the forces and the police, but in the same way I use a computer that doesn't make me at all proficient or knowledgeable! A long time ago I was in the air cadets and we regularly used UHF, VHF and HF radio (I seem to recall our c/s was MRK88).
Any way, grateful for a CT callsign allocation. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi 'OtanTheClown',
Welcome to Charlie Tango DX.
Nice intro, great to reminisce about the 'old days' especially as a lot of us around a certain age experienced CB in it's first round.
Just a heads up for obtaining a callsign - we just need to know who you are, (first names is fine), and your QTH has to be the nearest town or city. Don't worry, we won't visit you, just that it's a requirement for callsign allocation ( Either fill in your profile or post details here.)
Once that's done it's usually quick to get you a callsign as they're issued most days.

I am a returning member, having concentrated on Amateur Radio before being forced to take aerials down when house wall fell down and shack flooded. Now about to add a mobile setup to my car (both ham and cb) until we get the house repairs finished and aerials back up. How do I view my profile on here to check it is up to date?
