hi all,
i was dx-ing with a FT-817 for a while, but last week i came to an advert on the dutch marketplace where "some guy" wants to swap his transceiver for something else, so i did sent him a message with some photos of the 817. he took the bait, we talked a bit and came to a deal, without opening my wallet. we swapped thursday, and now its here standing in my little shack. and now i`m the proud owner of a Kenwood TS-570D, as new! hope to chitchat you all soon on this radio.
greets from Holland

Nice share Peter.
If you're happy with the swap, then all is good!
Personally I'd have been gutted with losing VHF/UHF, (only applicable if you can use it), but the Kenwood does look nicer to 'drive' than the Yaesu.
All the best, Victor

Hi Victor,
the loss of vhf/uhf isnt a problem. the bands on here are not used a lot. have an antenna for it, so if i going to miss it, i wil buy myself something for it.
@Graig; love this rig man, looks nice, sounds nice and have some more power in it

That looks like a cracking set and with conditions the way there are just now you will be pleased to have a little more power on hand I also found when I got a larger HF set the receive outperformed that of the smaller mobile model.
For all, you have lost VHF/UHF is it anything like where I am these frequencies are very quiet indeed and one of the small FM dual-band radios is more than adequate to get involved in any activity that is happening there I am yet to hear somebody locally use SSB on 2m I have heard some of the SOTA guys mention putting a call out for the few who do but I am just glad I haven't invested too heavily as my little handies and CRT Micron has me well covered.
I really noticed the difference going from an SS9900 (which I still use) on 11m for DX to the HF set, I am sure you will gain many hours of please from this, I know I certainly have!
