Evening all.
26 CT 3918 here. Yorkshire. Just thought ide share this little story.
Had to take my base station antenna down yesterday. SWR was suddenly sky high!
Took antenna down. An 18ft standard thunderpole.
Checked pl259 which was corroded! The inner metal gone!.
Purchased a new patch lead to replace. In the meantime done some antenna maintenance re taping joints etc...then I found what was really the problem...one section on the antenna had collapsed into itself ha ha!
No wonder SwR was sky high...I had lost about 1m off my antenna.
Either way it's been good practice and I did need to seal it all off better.
Should be back on air tuesday night.

Oh dear!
Antennas can have a bad habit of doing that to you, turn your back for five minutes, (or five years ), and they rust out on ya!
Here's hoping you get sorted and better still, waterproof/seal your antenna much more thoroughly.
A valuable lesson for all, but I'm sure most of us didn't learn until it happened at least once.
Cheers for the share David, hope you get sorted.
All the best, Victor
