I have discovered a very annoying bug with this radio.  When you alter the frequency in VFO mode, it changes the programming of the channel you were on before entering VFO.   Was quite peeved last night, I only got to have a short chat with my mate in the early hours, thinking he wasn't on all evening.   It turns out that the UK muppets channel I was calling and listening on all evening was actually set to a frequency on the 10 meter band.   I have verified this behaviour by listening on another radio.   I'm really not that bothered about the other bands getting messed up as I prefer VFO operation when DXing, but like the convenience of the channels on UK muppets so you don't have to fiddle about changing the digits to 27.xx125.   I will for now make sure I only use channel mode when I'm on the UK band.  I love this radio generally but what a bloody daft quirk for it to have!   To me it's just shoddy firmware design.  I'm not sure if I'll get anywhere raising it with Anytone.   I can live with it, it's got less annoying quirks than my 6900N.

I had the 9900 ? i think that is the model.
Soon got rid of it because of that problem it did my head in.
Also it was my first radio after nearly 27 years off air so it really did my head in lol.

On the 7900 try going to menu > number 7 > change from frequency to channel.

(You must synch your channels with frequency first)

I think this is a little closer to what you want?
(It works a bit more like a 6900 etc)

Thanks for this.   Yes is closer to what I want, but only trouble with that is you lose the proper VFO which I like.

I personally prefer it like this because it’s closer to how you expect the radio to behave (like ss3900 6900 etc)
To me, this way you get the best of both worlds.
also in vfo mode the old way you could ‘keep going’ with the vfo and there was no end to the ‘block’ .

I see what you mean.   Maybe I'll try using it like that for a while and see how I get on.  Before I do though, I will reprogramme it with my saved dat file, otherwise I'll be forever trying to sync up the channels with frequencies.

If it’s that bad, maybe a good idea 👌
Personally, I went through them all manually (didn’t have much to sync)
Good luck 😉

Just been playing and the same issue seems to exist in channel mode.  If you change the frequency, it changes the frequency of that channel.   I prefer the behaviour of my President McKinley in "span" mode...   You alter the frequency and it automatically changes the channel to the nearest channel number which you are on and when you get to either end of the block, automatically changes block.

You are doing something different to me. I don’t know what. Yet.
With the setting in channel mode in the menu.
When I change channel, the channel briefly shows on the left and the frequency increments as it should.
Once I go to channel 40 it goes to channel 1. Exactly as I would expect (this is not an icom!)

I can then press the band button etc, play on another band, all stays synced.....

Although!!
If I wanted say, 27.560 I would have to manually put it to 27.555 then change the steps and turn the 27.5 ** to suit and put it back afterwards I see what you mean there.
But if you are just normally increment the channels it will go 1,2,3 on the left and 27.965 blah blah blah on the right and stay synced...

Thinking on it..
To get to 27.560 etc I guess you could modify the clarifier setting in the menu to tx and rx and put the knob to 3’oclock? (Untested)
