I can no longer find this group on Facebook?

If I can't find the Charlie Tango DX Group on Facebook, where has it gone?  I had been a member but now it's disappeared from my list of groups!?  A search reveals nothing and accessing from Google gives the following message 

"This content isn't available at the moment
When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people or changed who can see it, or it's been deleted."

Anyone??

I just searched for it and sent a request to join.

It's strange.
I saw the first post and copied "Charlie Tango DX Group" and pasted it into fb found the group asked to join filled in the questions and 2 hours later email saying accepted.

facebook? why? you can talk here on this forum with all our friends, you got a chat-function on the clusterDX site and we have our transceivers/CB.. why do we need f****ng facebook?

I just joined the group to see if i could to see if it was working ?????.

The Facebook page seems to be up and running well.


Paddy, 26CT2727, does a stellar job keeping the FB pages going and thoroughly deserves a pat on the back for his efforts.

Remember folks, as like the admin on here he performs his function on a purely voluntary basis giving up his own free time for the benefit of Charlie Tango and it's members. 

If you need to contact him with any queries but are unable to do so via Facebook for any reason, you can PM him on the Charlie Tango DX website. Either search for 'Paddy' on the 'Members' section or look for him on the PM system. Just remember that he is simply another human being like you so will usually respond to you as soon as he can and when he is able to. All of us have either jobs, family commitments or other such that we have to attend to so please be patient.
(Most of us sleep at night so as such there is no '24/7' service either. )


It is also worth noting that the admin team on Facebook is different from the admin team here so bare this in mind when trying to make contact.

If you have made a request to join the FB group but not received a response after some time then either check your notifications or make a request again. Similarly in the 'only human' reference earlier your request may have simply been missed.


I am aware that Facebook is not for everyone but also in the same vein I don't scream out in the aisles of my supermarket declaring my hatred for certain food stuffs. There's always something for everyone and as they say variety is the spice of life.

If you mention the words, "face" and "book", most members of the public will make a link. If you mention, "single", "side" and "band", it will mean very little to most, except us fortunate enough to be blessed with a radio interest.

Also you have to remember this forum is the original proper forum for The Charlie Tango DX ,this was formed years before the Faceache thing and really should be the main way of joining the club and  not through Faceache it seems the its running like two different clubs with the same name .
Oh remember as Victor said THE ADMIN ON HERE ARE VOLUNTARY NO PAY AND THE HAVE LIVES AND FAMILY OUTSIDE OF THIS FORUM

Agree it would be food to keep in one place. I requested to join the FP page because a post about one of the nets on here referred to one that was posted on the FB page (but the details weren't posted on here).  Am waiting for my request to join the FB page after a week or so, FB looks like maybe I didn't answer the questions required.

Thank you Victor for the praise. 

I must explain the Facebook group has very different rules than the Forum, even I find it strange.

The Facebook group was setup a long time ago and with the permission of Lee but on the understanding it would not interfere with the Forum and would NOT offer Callsign’s. The Admin have changed many times over the years and the Originator has long gone. 

The most glaring difference from the Forum is that the Facebook group does not offer anonymity and Blank, New or Blatantly false profiles will not be accepted. To address the OP, members who block the admin from their Facebook Profiles will be removed and Blocked. 

I understand the comments from the non-Facebook folks on here too. Facebook is not always a great place to be. That being said the CT ‘group is a friendly place and any attempt to belittle people is dealt with quickly. There is no place for cruelty or demeaning behaviour in our group. Very much the ethos of this Forum also. 

I hope that helps folks.

EDIT: My apologies to Vince nothing he has done intentionally has blocked the Admin from his profile. It seems to be some sort of setting in his profile. Vince and I are working to get him back on the Group as soon as possible.

peetassen, what you say is very true!  But I joined Facebook mainly for the Sheffield & District Wireless Society group to learn about Morse code and keyers etc..   And whilst I'm there I thought I'd join  the CTDX group etc, and see what's going on on the Facebook side of things......     

I like to get answers pretty fast to my questions, and some groups answer quite fast such as the aforementioned SDWS group...

I do think Facebook is very insidious though and may very soon delete my account again for another 4 or 5 years, especially after getting the boot from CTDX. 

But Hay Ho, there's more to life etc.

Its seems as you have stated been only given the boot from the Faceache part of CTDX  but you haven't been given the boot from CTDX on here because this is the ORIGINAL PROPER CHARLIE TANGO FORUM where the Faceache one is not ,this is why I commented it seems like the Facebook lot(not the admin the Faceache members) are trying to run it like a separate club and we who don't use Facebook don't know what they say on there and could even be giving the ORIGINAL forum a bad name , I even once copied a CT member once who accused me of not being a true CT member because they had never seen me on the Faceache page, TBH I  think they should scrap Facebook and get THIS forum back to how it was in the beginning absolutely buzzing with life full of info sections like what we use to have and lots more life ,I know I'm not a Admin  to do anything about it  but I and a few of old original Admin  that was here from the beginning that are still are can remember those days ,surely it can't be that hard to do again ,we didn't have Faceache back then why have it now.

I am quite happy to put your mind at rest Martin, nobody on Facebook is giving the Forum a bad name. Although many try especially when they cannot manage to sign up and request a Callsign! I can assure you they are helped in every way to get a Callsign (which usually means me signing them up). Then once they have a Callsign and the next person comes along and asks for one. They usually tell them “Forget it mate, took me ages to get mine it’s not worth the hassle”. We are very quick to tell them the error was all there doing NOT This Forum. 

With regards to closing it, I don’t think cutting down on the number of people who get to hear about Charlie Tango will in any way help the forum. It is the way of the world these days. I’m surprised somebody hasn’t opened a Tik Tok, Reddit, Instagram, Twitter, Discord or any other of the Social Media spaces available these days. #GodForbid.

P.S. For me personally Charlie Tango will always mean this Forum first and foremost.

Luckily, it's the exception rather than the rule. Does make you question your efforts in volunteering for the greater good of the group though. Drives some members nuts too!
