| Version 6 software programming utility. USB programming lead
Error cannot set comm port.
Laptop running Windows 10 (Argh).
Any thoughts about this welcome.

| Did you look in device manager to see what com port your cable is on. Also did you pick it in the software setup. Not used that software for a long time now so can't think of anything else. | |

| Thanks Alan, windows device driver was the key.
I sent you a pm with what I did BUT as I can't post links for 7 days, I can't seem to add it to a reply. Bottom line, I can now read and write to the radio.

| Glad you sorted it out. That would have been my next suggestion drivers. Long time ago since i had one of them but can vaguely remember a driver disc with my cable. It's getting the same now with any radio that you need a specific driver. I run a Yaesu FT991A and the driver for the cable put's 2 com-ports in but you only need the enhanced port no idea what the other port is for but id does cause some confusion lol.
Edit i got the pm but only just come out to the shack and turned this pc on. | |
