Hi all

I'm Andrew from South Australia

I've been into 27mhz for about 25 years, historically mobile set ups with "tuned" rigs, decent antennas operating from remote locations in central SA

I spent some time in Adelaide mixing with the crazy AM crowd, driving around to the lookouts high in the Adelaide hills and having fun with some banter on 11am before venturing into SSB
I'd also spent countless hours relaxing with a few amateur radio operators in their shacks helping with tower installations, equipment set ups and best of all, listing to the frantic chaos of operators exchanging details to send QSL cards.

These days I'm running a selection of mobile SSB radios, Galaxy 959 with a few basic mods, 18ch HMV Rpadhound TX77 modified for 40ch, General Electric 3-5828, Ferris SSB 5000 18ch and a ½ wave Station Master on a telescopic pole with a maximum height of 15 metres (normally set at 5.5m)
Generally I operate from the shed, mostly just listening, Whenever I head out into Remote areas I have one of those radios in the 4x4 hooked up to a MobileOne Skipwhip.

Anyhow, I found this forum while searching the internet to check the anticipated propagation conditions.
Currently I'm out of action until I repair damage to my antenna caused by bird strike... but I've still got my ears on.

Cheers, beers and all the lucky numbers around the dial.

Thank you all for the warm welcome
It looks like I've got plenty to read here in this forum, no doubt it'll keep me entertained for quite some time.
I'm looking forward to learning about other frequencies and having some good conversations here with other like minded folks.
All the best
