Hi, I’m Dave,
I’m very pleased to join here. Been SWLing for a while and stumbled upon my dads old CB not long ago. Now I have a little collection and have set up a temporary basestation and I’m hoping to learn enough to get a good setup that works well and familiarise myself with what is good etiquette. I’m also guessing here will be a handy place to get some info about the correct antenna setup, as this seems to be where I am failing at the moment.
My profession is in technology and I have two degrees - one in computer science and one in music technology - my dad is an electronics engineer - so having grown up around all of this, I’m not just fascinated by radios, but anything of an electrical nature intrigues me.
I would love to get my ham licence at some point, but I am very happy with my CBs and shortwave receivers at the moment.
I hope to contribute and make some friends here, thanks!
