Hi Alan,
Yeah, you know what it's like with internet links, the damn things can be three miles long! I shortened it so that this posting became readable again, (screws around with the page width). Just doing my usual helpful stuff.
I see you finally let the old proverbial cat out of the bag mate, (regards the NanoVNA donation). Will always be very grateful for it and used it for so many things way beyond anything I expected to do!!
Still loving the fact that there are helpful as well as generous radio enthusiasts out there from donations of equipment to sharing invaluable help and information. There's so much more beyond the typical 'top trumps' way of thinking.
All the very best to you, Victor

Hi gents,
I just thought I'd chip-in to say thank you for an excellent thread!! An oldie, but a goodie! I seem to be developing an unhealthy fascination with antennae design principles for every band, not least VHF and UHF, so this has been very useful. And, as luck would have it, I went up into the loft yesterday and found an old TV aerial just lying on the insulation.....for my sins, I had just ordered a whole plethora of 'stuff' from Knights to get my 2m/70cm journey underway, as I have the next 7 days off, yay!!!! After seeing this thread however, I've also just ordered a NanoVNA, as it looks to be an awesome tool for the job.
Cheers,
Simon.

Hi Simon,
Sounds like you're having a lot of fun and really pleased for you mate.
Handy find you having an old TV antenna in the loft and I hope you get to repurpose it into something more useful like I and probably many others before have done. My beam written about here is still in use and I get to regularly chat to my old Ham friend should he be travelling southwards anywhere as far as London from my QTH. The other repeaters I can access are unfortunately a little quiet but always worth a listen or shout out to.
The NanoVNA is a marvelous bit of kit once you learn how to use it and I'll always be very grateful to Alan for donating it to me. More recently I used it to build a 2m/70cm splitter for some antenna experiments which turned out to be far less complicated than some people or commercial companies make out.
Enjoy your week off and I hope you get to have a lot of radio enjoyment with the time.
All the best, Victor

Yes Simon , Since I got my licence last year , I've been enjoying 2m and also SOTA & WOTA , any bits of wire , plastic pipe or metal seem to end up as an antenna of some sort , in fact I haven't bought one yet . The problem is usually which one to take when i go out . My antenna at home is just a ¼ wave ground plane made of aluminium tubing and a so239 chassis mount up on a pole on the side of the house which has weathered all the Winter storms too.
