The mast set on fire a couple of weeks ago when some work was being done on the transmitter and fully burned it out. Currently a 300m exclusion zone around it because they're not sure if it'll fall down or not. Affecting TV, DAB and FM radio in the region.

They put up a couple of small 50ft ones and were hoping to get a temporary 260ft one up by the weekend but it's been delayed by planners as it's a site of special scientific interest.

hi thanks for the info it looks like you say fully burnt out the tower looks badly damaged there is a site  called mb21- the transmission gallery web site has a lot of info about tv transmitter sites i can remember  in the 80s when billsdale had the 2 meter hg repeater installed thanks for the info stay safe do radio paul m0kbd 73s

Yes my Dad over in the uk in that area was pulling his hair out, thought his TV had died on him until he found out about the fire.

hi i came out of church this morning at roseworth stockton i can normally see the billsdale tv mast it might have been hill fog but unable to see the tv mast  i will try to keep up with news as it comes thanks for looking stay safe i still wear a mask on the bus 73s paul m0kbd
