Hi Bill,
Welcome to Charlie Tango.
To obtain a call sign we need some basic information for allocation - Name, Country & QTH.
You're obviously 'Bill' and I presume Northumberland in the UK but the QTH has to be filled in being the town/city you live in or near. You can edit these on your profile either by clicking on the 'Profile' button on the site when you are logged in or at the following link :-
(Make sure you are logged in to be able to enter your details.)
Once these details are filled in you should be issued a call sign within a couple of days. I hope this helps.
The Uniden 2830 is a nice radio, used to have one myself back in the day and I hope yours continues to serve you well.
