 | Subject: What angle do I put the 40 and 80 add-ons on the sigma hf360 ? Anybody help out? Sat Jan 01, 2022 11:47 pm | |
| Well chaps Got a bit of a dilemma with these add-ons. Currently I have them pretty much at 90 degrees and they seem to work ok until it starts to rain ️.I've also tried them at a much lower point of nearly 45 degrees they work ok but anyone have an idea of the best angle on these whips ? | I have only just got round to fitting mine but not used that antenna much since so unsure of the results. Mine are fitted at 5 to and 5 past if that makes sense well might be at 45 degree but it's what i have seen in picture's. Been sat indoors for the last month too cold to sit in the shack so only doing ft4/8 with remote desktop app but a lot warmer by this radiator lol. | |

| I bought the add-on kit to improve the 40 and 80m bands as that is what it claims to be for. Rather than keep taking the antenna down over and over i tuned the 2 (40 and 80m) whip aerials on a mag-mount before fitting them i know it's not ideal but being disabled it saved me a lot of pain. I run an external auto-tuner so that takes care of the swr. As said before not really used it much since running remotely on the long wire from inside the house. Without them fitted it didn't need the external tuner for 10-12-15-20 not sure on 30 but 40 ran on the internal but reception was low same with 80 so didn't use the last 2 bands. When we get a warmer day or when i get the urge to venture outside i will give it a better test but liking the warm in the house at the moment.
Edit The add-on kit won't be your swr problem i don't think it could well be water ingress at the pl end. I have started to layer mine in Vaseline jelly you can get a 1kg or 1Ltr tub for under a tenner. | |
