and there was me thinking that I need to wait until the spring before I can do any more works on the garden but you just proved me wrong.

what will you be using the shack for? just storage or are you setting up some sort of a base station in there?  New shack on the way. 1f603

New shack is for radio only.
Old shack has all sorts of stuff in it i just used a corner for radio but need the space.
The winds got the better of the greenhouse once again so i decided enough was enough and it went.
Unpacked the new shack off the pallet and it has 2 wrong panels so delayed until Friday or Monday now until the replacements turn up.

I'd suggest insulating it, walls and roof, I used aluminium bubble wrap for the roof, and 50mm foam sandwiched in aluminium foil for the walls, and then also put down insulation mats and then put oak laminated flooring over that, warm as toast in Winter, but last Summer's heat I installed a portable air conditioning unit to keep a steady 23C, ha

Might seem OTT, but I also have two 2 metre rackmount cabinets with computers and video/audio equipment, and have plans for a third one, may be bit smaller, so air con was a must.

I had planned to use the aluminium bubble stuff plus king-span then panelling it all.
Got a lot of it together just a few bits to get but held up waiting for the replacement panels.
They said i could keep the incorrect panels so they will be used to panel the inside wall where i plan to mount my monitors so handy.

Yes, I used white faced panels, I think 3mm thick, to cover it all, since it looked like a rather large tin foil hat...

I'm mounting a two monitors for a rack of 8 computers, with the output going into a CCTV System, and 8 way monitor, keyboard + Mouse Switch, so I can run all 8 if I wanted (I won't), and monitor all the video feeds on the CCTV Monitor, then select the one I want to control via a switch.  Most I'll prolly run is five, and that will be rare, two will run 24/7 for Encrypted Weather Satellite Data, another two are designed for Data Recovery, the rest are really museum pieces, I have eight more from 8088 through to AMD K6-3, again museum pieces really.

All Amateur Radio will be on Laptops, 24/7 Packet, 24/7 PC-ALE or JS8Call, DX SSTV/PSK31, and a separate Log.

I also have two machines I use for Video Media Transfers and Video Editing, plus a Windows 7 machine for any Browsing/Email.

Then there's my Sinclair Collection ZX-81's Spectrums, then the Playstations, PSOne to PS4, hence needing a 20ft x 10ft Shed to keep everything from under the wife's feet.

She says it keeps me out of trouble...

Yes the insulation will be put under the floor tomorrow.
Also the roofing felt that came with the shed will be under the base.
Rubber roof going on this one.

Good choice. I would consider underfloor heating here, but being in the basement it would be far too disruptive to install. However it is lovely and cool in the summer Smile

Im in the process of doing exactly the same thing. Bought a shiplap shed and just finished building it. Just have to insulate it now. Im using normal bubblewrap, the type with big bubbles. I got 50 meters of it and it is suppose to work well.

Well 2 more replacement panels turned up again today.
Decided to put a window panel in after all.
This is today's update.New shack on the way. S610
New shack on the way. S510
New shack on the way. S410

Nor quite level but a bit of fine tuning tomorrow will sort that out.

Been thinking again lol.
I was going to strip the extra panels and use it to clad part of the inside.
Job is getting the nails out as they grip like $h1t but had another think.
Going to lose 4" on the inside doing it but i am going to install the extra panels on the inside back to front will have a 4" gap for insulation as well.
I will only have the ends and roof to clad with ply that way.
What do you think of that idea.
Any thoughts.

Coming along nicely Alan mate. New shack on the way. 1f44d

I'm sure once you get all your gear fired up in there it'll be nice and toasty regardless. I often think I'm lucky having the spare room in the house as my radio room/shack, but with computers, monitors, radios, power supplies, mini fridge, soldering irons etc. my issue is keeping the whole damn thing cool enough!! Wink

Keep the rain out, watch out for the mice setting up camp and everything's good.

Victor i would have a nice room in the house if our baby son who is 30 Monday coming would find a woman and leave home.
With the life he gets here of his mum that won't happen anytime soon lol.
I just wish he wasn't on night shift at the moment as it is near dark when he get's up and it wouldn't have taken me a week to get this far.
Roof kit came late afternoon so the wooden roof on today i hope then the rubber to follow over the weekend.

As parents we'd do anything to help out our offspring no matter how old they get mate.
My 'spare' room was a long time coming always being emergency accommodation for either of the girls when they faced troubles, a couple of times with grandkids in tow! Even now I'd vacate it in a heartbeat should they ever need to come home again.

I still have my sheds, so they'll always be a 'home' for my radio. Wink

Good on yer mate and well done with how far you've got on already, looking forward to see how you progress. New shack on the way. 1f44d

Stephen, same as you Smile It has it's downsides for me though, if my better half has gone to bed then radio isn't happening.

Alan, you're not the only one. My eldest son isn't at home every day, but he is there enough that I can't claim that room for something else yet. Your new shack is looking great so far, I can almost smell that fresh timber through the photos Smile
