Hello Rob,
I've not heard of any rig doctors in Essex. There's James from "The Shack" on FB in Cornwall and Nick "Black Spirit" in Wales who I no longer know how to contact.
You could try some of the Ham radio shops that have service departments such as ML&S in Stains but if I'm honest I'm not sure they'd be willing to get involved in a 30 year old C.B. radio.
In my opinion "The Shack" on FB is probably your best bet.

Nick "Black Spirit" in Wales was Nick Love but now goes by Nick Ashley on FB. I use him for any probs i have radio's. Decent prices and knows what he's doing.
