| Nice one Mick and a fine antenna for sure
Set her up as per supplied intructions and it will work a treat , they are very broad banded so you will find it will cover more than you think
Good luck and enjoy

| That certainly is a bit of a beastly! Most important part of the radio setup, a good antenna. Looking forward to seeing her up in the air.
All the best on the bands.

| Well that is a beastie...or rather a beauty of an antenna! At least it should be able to pull in my amateur attempt at an inverted V on your new Wednesday net. Happy DXing with it Victor _________________ Theory means that we know everything, but nothing works. Practice means that everything works, but we don't know why. Thanks Gary, I hope so mate, although I'm beginning to see why the old mids net shut down, there just don't seem to be the interest in this area. 73,s Mick | |

Hi matt, my 827 is tuned to 27mhz, so cant DX on Ham bands with it, but it certainly pulls the signals in , goodluck when you get yours up in the air ! 73's Mick

| I did mean it has been up but now it is down . But will be going back up some point but more for higher bands and tune with a tuner . It's been down due to using lower hf bands but yes it is a beast . | |

| What a cracking looking antenna, good job of fitting it too! This leaves me in a quandary, do I chose a more discreet antenna that wouldn't catch peoples eyes or should I erect something futureproof with a decent ground plane like this? Back in 84'-85' I had a 7/8th wave Sigma 4 up on three scaffolding poles all clamped together, stabilised with guy lines and earthed to a copper pole into the ground and even though it was even less discreet than this my neighbours were very understanding although in fairness my next-door neighbour was a Ham whose house was bristling with antennas. | |

Hi Alan, You know what, I pondered the same question, and even installed a double bazooka in my loft as a stealth antenna, but it just wasn't cutting it and then I thought if I'm going to do , do it big and do it high and ill deal with any complaints as they come, you know what with todays tv's etc I'm not going to cause any tvi because todays tv's are digital not uhf or vhf...so my mind was made up and I haven't had one complaint, and I think I get more interference from my neighbours Led lights than I give them so all's good here. so my advise is just do it 73's Mick

Actually you can still cause TVI to those using Freeview which still uses the same frequencies analogue TV did. It is only cable and satellite you'd not interfere with. You'd not cause wavy lines on the screen like the old days but you would cause pixellated or blocky pictures, freezing pictures or no signal messages.

| Congratulations on your impressive erection In these times of low skip, height is certainly might. I think you may become a bit obsessed with the weather forecast as there is going to be a lot of force exerted on those T & K brackets when the wind gets up. Until last year I had the tip of my Mk.1 Avanti Sigma IV up at 90ft. It took all that was thrown at it, especially considering I live in a very exposed area but it did cause me to lose a lot of sleep when it was blowing a hooley outside. In the end I swapped it over to an Imax 2000 which I've seen bend 90 degrees with no ill effect. Very much a fit and forget antenna, all for the loss of about half an S-point on the meter. | |
