Hi all, Looking for some advice about an HF/VHF/UHF radio like the 991a. I'm looking for one that will receive the UHF airband in the 220mhz area obviously RX only. I like the look of the 991a but don't know if this will do this or if there is a rig out there that will. My Yaesy ft60 will rx there but its only a hand held.
Thank you all in advance Michael

Thank you all, Just wanting to thin out my radio shelf and get one that will cover from something like 100khz to 900mhz. But obviously won't TX where it's not supposed to (air band and military airband etc) both of those I do like to listen to when I can.
Thanks again all

There's a few out there that do HF/VHF/UHF, but check the specs of any you like the look of to make sure they have full coverage RX. Most American spec ones won't do the old cellphone frequencies in the 900MHz range, but other than that, most do or can do a wide range on RX, but for airband, check they specifically have AM on RX in that frequency range.
A few to Google:
iCom IC-7000 (I have this one and like it a lot - it's in my 4WD) iCom IC-7100 (Replacement for the above, but one I would never buy on ergonomics alone!) Kenwood TS2000 in all it's variants iCom IC-9100 iCom IC-746 (No UHF, I don't think) iCom IC-706 MkII G Yaesu FT-857D Yaesu FT-991A
Just depends on personal preferences, size and budget!

Never looked on the air band but it is there for selecting starting at 118.000 but not sure how high it will go.
