I have discovered my President Madison which has been hiding in the loft for about 15 years and was wondering how much I might get for it. I need to get a HF set so to keep 'er indoors happy (sort of) I am hoping to sell some of my junk as she calls it to get some cash towards it. It has S-LO, LO, MIDS, HI, S-HI and UK FM also the frequency counter is fixed to it.
TIA, Tony

Depends on how much someone wants to pay for it on the day Tony.
Cash & Radio are dirty words here at CT, you wouldn't believe how many join just to try and offload their junk never to be seen again! (I know that's not the case with you Tony, you've been a great member and contributor to the forum.)
Got to admit, your old Maddy has me drooling as I used to have one many years ago myself. Great radios. To think at the time I thought the clock was a bit 'naff' but it's all 'retro cool' nowadays.
How much? Who knows mate. I've seen them go for as low as £80 in recent years and advertised with the old box speakers for £300 plus. You'll have to eBay it with words like "vintage", or "collectible" on the description!
Mind you the amount of times I've seen "from my deceased Fathers estate" usually from the same seller. B*ggers must have more deceased 'Fathers' than the Catholic Church!
I wish you well with it Tony, as I said....nice radio.
All the best, Victor

Have a search on the net for Black spirit or Nick love. He likes to buy them and pays reasonable money to get them. He is in South Wales but he will sort a courier out.

Sorry for the bad language Victor I will moderate it in future.
I understand what you are saying about how much it may be worth, I looked on fleebay to get an idea but only found three. Two in the USA for £600+ and another £300+ with shipping (For parts or not working). The third in Northern Ireland for £134.99p which had half the insides missing but is for 'parts only'.
It used to go everywhere with me in the car 15+ years ago and whenever I had time would go to high ground and plug it in. **************************** Alan, many thanks for the info, I will track him down.
Cheers both, 73 Tony

Ha! Ha!
No worries there Tony mate. Can't believe those prices you found but wouldn't be at all surprised!
Shame it's got to go but funds towards a HF set would be welcome. Again, I wish you the best with it and hope it goes for decent money.
All the best, Victor

How much it is worth and how much you will get are two different things! CBs are selling above their value just now, but are dropping. If you are going to sell it, sell it NOW while prices are above their value. Stick it on Ebay and you might get silly high offers, but be careful.....buyers are not always honest and claim it was damaged or faulty when it arived.

If i sell a radio on eBay i list as parts. I explain it works but sold as parts to protect myself from the screwdriver experts. You will see many listings like this.

Many thanks for the suggestions and tips Bob and Alan, I may have to resort to Ebay but was hoping not too. If I do it will mean another thing to learn as my ancient brain takes forever these days to learn new skills.
Cheers, Tony

I've heard some stories about things on there. I will try locally first as that will save hastle, if that doesn't work I will try online. There is no rush right now, but will advertise in a few weeks.
Thanks to all for your input! Tony

Could well be running the bidding up with another account it goes on a lot. But saying that if you have a good working one pictures of it clean and shiny will up the price. People are paying silly money on there at the moment and have been for a while now. When i sell a radio on there i sell it as parts but put it in the description that ""it is in full working order and just covering myself due to the nature of the game"".

Final update. A big thanks to all who replied, after looking at all options including contacting Knights (who weren't interested due to the number of potentially iffy Mods done to it) I will only sell to someone who can come and check it out first.
That's the nagative, the positive is I've now got a HF radio. My 'Station Manager' gave me her blessing to spend before selling my 'Junk'.

It's a shame so many people are hell bent on ripping others off, especially within niche hobbies.
Coming back into radio after so many years, and more from a social aspect rather than technical, I'm glad I did some research before buying. Anything is worth what others are prepared to pay for it. But I'd rather sell something for less to someone who appreciates it rather than a chancer.
