does anyone know what the procedure is for cw on 6900n, does the key go directly to the station or is there an el key in between?

Hi Aleksandar,
I'm afraid I don't know the CW procedure on these radios and a quick scout on the internet didn't turn up any help either.
From what I remember there is a jack at the back of the radio but whether this is for a CW key or a method of switching I'm uncertain. (I would've presumed the keying would be performed on the PTT connection??)
Currently I'm on my old tablet checking the forum but when I get a chance to get on the laptop I'll have a scoot around or check out the schematic.
If you do find out yourself either through further information or experimenting it'd be great to share your results here on the forum as it may ably assist others thinking of doing the same thing.
All the best, Victor

hi Victor, I didn't find anything on the internet, reading the user manual, I assume cw key goes directly to the station.I printed cw key on 3d printer. I still need to assemble it, maybe paint it...

Hi Aleksandar. The manual for this radio has been re-written a few times by other people to make it more understandable. The version I have shows:
This jack is for Morse code operation; To operate, connect a CWkey to this jack and place the MODE switch in the CW position (LCDdisplay icon "CW")
I have not tried this, but it looks your first thought was correct.

hi SangueG.my 6900n was bought new in the package also came with a user manual.as you said and as I assume and as written in the manual, the key should go directly to the station.

I have an AT-5555 which is the same. The CW key is directly connected to the plug. I also 3D-printed my key. When operating the key i find the volume quite loud, but can't adjust it.

Great to see some added input to your CW question here Aleksandar.
A quick look at the schematic shows a simple transistor buffer/debouncer circuit from the CW jack socket on the rear of the radio but then disappears off to the microprocessor so can't tell its true functionality such as XIT/RIT control or sidetone features etc.
It looks like a simple grounded key input so any iambic features would have to be done externally or just rely on good old hand dexterity and code timing. (Link to schematic :- https://www.cbtricks.com/radios/crt/ss6900/index.htm )
From what Karel has said it seems that any sidetone feature or reception is very loud!
(I'm also not sure if there is any traditional narrowband filtering of the CW signals in any way?)
I'm surprised there wasn't more info out there regards CW operation on such radios but then you'd only have the 10m CW section on an expanded radio anyway. Got to say although I've heard Morse on CB frequencies it's very rare and usually monotonic due to computer generation rather than the manual bounce of a fist. I'm sure dedicated CW Ham operators will usually utilise alternative rigs.
Have fun with 3D printing your key.
