Hi William,
Welcome to Charlie Tango.
I've completed your profile for you to ensure there are no delays in you receiving a call sign. (Your country entry was missing, I presume Portrush in Northern Ireland.)
The call sign that you would be issued with the group will be made up from your country CB radio code number, then CT for Charlie Tango and then the next sequential number for your country.
i.e. : 68-CT-???
Where ??? would be the next number of issue.
As for use on CB radio you're free to use whatever you like so if you wanted to use the 'handle' or pseudonym of 'Bluewhale' then go straight ahead. A lot of times nowadays when CB radio activity is local and friendly a lot just use their first name with a 'handle' kept probably for nostalgia reasons.
I see that you have a Magnum 257 CB radio listed in your equipment and this is where a call sign can come in useful if you are utilising SSB modes for some DX activity. Having a CT call sign and being a member of the group means any contact made with you can be checked by the other operator simply by visiting this Charlie Tango website/forum and looking you up. Far more useful for them than a randomly made up call sign that can never be verified.
Also being a member here means you have access via the forum to a lot of really helpful CT members who have shown on so many occasions how helpful they really all can be. Always useful if you're just starting out and have a question or two that you need help with, let alone advice, friendly banter and even simply a place to show off your equipment or talk about your latest DX contact.
The group is run and joined by radio enthusiasts from around the world all in the spirit of the enjoyment of radio.
None too bad for free.
Or you could simply get a call sign and leave it at that. Up to you.
Either way keep an eye on this posting in the forthcoming days for when our admin Gary comes to allocate you a call sign.
Enjoy your CB.
All the best, Victor
