You experiencing the same sort of QRZ hit rate makes me feel a lot better Neal. It's not just me then?
I have a 'newish' AM/FM radio that has one of those 'one chip radio semiconductors' in them and the damn thing picks up interference galore! (Great for QRM hunting though.) I did reduce the audio chip gain in it as it would even pick up electromagnetic influences from powered speakers just going near the speaker cable.
That made it a lot better but still pretty rubbish, whereas my old 1970's Bang & Olufsen Beolit 707 is immune from everything and still a damn fine radio. Shame they began shutting down all the stations though!
Your case is pretty strange though?!? (Thinking on my DAB portable in the workshops is pretty rubbish too.)
I wish your daughter well there Neal.
My QRZ is poor as well, only been doing it since 2018, over 1400 but just over 600 received. LOTW is better got nearly a 1000 on there. My eQSL achive contains 670 FT8, 198 MFSK/FT4 and 296 SSB. Here is latest eQSL from Maui Hawaii FT4 worked last weekend.

Wayne That is it contact or time out will stop it running until you click the mouse again. There was a version of the software that would continue without clicking the mouse again but it was short lived. So yes you could make a brew but if you make a contact while your putting the milk in ft8 will stop lol.

Glad to hear your BBQ event was a success there Wayne. Nice also to hear that the 'Station Manager' enjoyed the whole foray so much that she is looking forward to further events. Great stuff!

Hi Dave,
Good to hear that you've been getting some lively CB reception in your part of the world. I wish you well with your antenna upgrade and hope you get many contacts. You'll have to let us know how you get on with it all.
Thanks for posting.

Still brilliant hearing what people are up to and enjoying reading the posts as I'm sure many others are.
I've enjoyed some time out with family Birthday parties, (Wife and youngest daughter), so no radio but enjoyable nonetheless with a bit of sunburn to boot!
Was good to finally get to turn the radio back on this evening though.....hard habit to break!
Keep it going, it's enjoyable stuff - What ya doing?

Ok well it's been a busy time for me as late, what with work jobs about the house and garden etc (got to buy yourself some radio time with the misses lol). So I've been managing to get some radio time in most evenings some nights better than others with the skip but upto now had some really good contacts into Europe and further afield Mexico which to me was amazing especially on my location and set up. I'm running my DX 10 on 3/4 power and also my Bearcat 980 for the 305 chat. Really struggling to hear anything North of me and also West but I'm putting that down to location but hey ho that's ok. I studied earlier this year for the foundation ticket but never took the exam as I wasn't comfortable with some of the tech stuff, so that's my next goal to pick that up again and start studying, 90% of the info is in my swede but it's just some of the workings out that I need to look at, I would benefit from joining a club at this stage I think, but again been rural it's sometimes difficult to get. Anyway not much else to report still enjoying getting on the air and chatting to others.

Hi Andy,
Great to hear you've been squeezing in some radio time around 'domesticated' life and a big congratulations with your Mexican contact. Impressive stuff!
I wouldn't get too hung up on firing radio in particular directions unless you have a beam antenna. I live in the radio hole that is Bedford, (higher ground in every direction!), but still manage to receive/transmit out of it.
Would be well worth looking back at your Foundation especially as you've already had a stint at studying for it. Do remember that for the exam you have a look up sheet which will help with the frequency allocation stuff and simpler dB gain numbers. They're not looking for the next radio genius just good operators and a pass is a pass even if you get a few wrong. I've never had so much radio fun since obtaining mine and recommend it to anybody passionate about their radio interests. I wish you well with it and the very best of luck.
Thanks for posting, always good to hear what others are up to with their radio interests.
