Hi Andy welcome to the ct forum. You will find many of us have returned to radio after a long time off air. There a few PMR users on the forum not sure of there location.

Plenty of info and help on here just ask. I see you are getting the crt-9900 that was the first radio i bought when i returned to radio but soon sold it. Good radio but to many little buttons for my fat fingers and old eye's to handle lol.

I haven't got big fingers ....so I'm all good...just one question Alan.....what antenna is best for homebase.....I'm thinking a 5/8 silver rod? 21 foot is the max I will go....already got a x300 for PMR..2/70.

A 5/8 silver rod will do the job ok. You will get other recommendations but that is what i started with on my return. Round where i live it is dead on cb nothing like it was last time i was on and i nearly sold up but didn't. We are still low down in the cycle but it is getting better with some good dx now and again. As i said a few on here are returning like you over the last couple of years. Some like myself went for our ham licence and believe me the world is your lobster with that. I still have my cb in the corner well 2 of them both Lincoln's the old mk1 and the new my2+.
