i bought a Skiptech HS 2000 from ebay, it has a good out put, its 27.791.898 on frequency counter, i know some will say thats ok not bad, but i would like to get it to atleast 27.791.268 if i can. i have frequency counter/signal generator/power/dummy load/trimmers/ and more, but i have read the VCO variable near the crystal can be sticky at times and hard to get right,
is it safe or not safe to use Servisol Super 10 switch cleaner on it to make it a bit more free to turn or can i use compressed air instead, any advice on this?

Years ago when i was doing the repairs that is what i used all the time. Did this very same job many times never a problem. DeoxIT contact cleaner i see talked about but it is a new one to me and expensive.

Hi thank you Alan, just wanted to be sure,
i have used it on volume and squelch dial, but when it comes to the variable near the crystal that adjusts the frequency i like to be sure it does not cause more harm then good, i did improve the receive on the rig, it had a poor input on the signal generator, got it to -100mhz and lost the signal, now it goes to -124mhz before losing the signal, best i could get out of it, and with no signal meter it hard to judge if its a signal 9 or +10 audio is around mid table nice and clear, power out put is a 3 Watts maxed, so ill have a go at the frequency later, plus after getting some very rare books from USA 6 expert manuals that covers 0ver 2100 cb radio's plus others i should have loads of fun,

Did you test what frequency it was on when it had been on for a while or just turned on?
Make sure you leave the radio on for a good 30-60 minutes first before checking if it's on frequency because as the radio doesn't have a temperature controlled oscillator as it warms up the frequency will change.
