When running the SS6900 V7.01reprogramming software, whether in normal user mode or administrator, I get an error message when reading from radio is at 99% - Run-time error '6' Overflow. Can anyone advise?

Hi Barney,
Did you get sorted?
Only asking as obviously your posting wasn't answered and you'd also asked a question about a programming lead in an earlier (also unanswered) posting.
(I like to check for unanswered forum postings every now and then. )
I know that when I went about making my own programming leads for various Amateur bits of gear I came across a few issues. All the 'Prolific' nonsense reared it's ugly head and the best I came across then successfully built a lead was with a CP2102 USB to TTL RS232 adapter/interface. (Cheap as chips!)
Unfortunately even though I got that working for several radios I couldn't get it to work on everything and landed up purchasing the OEM programming leads and using their own software for specific radios.
I was getting the same 'overflow' errors as well as appearing that the radio was downloading/programming but actually didn't or failed at the '99%' similar to you.
Anyway, didn't know if any of that experience might help.
All the best, Victor

We did have a member Sgt Bilko on here but not seen him for some weeks now. He had all the files you could ever want. Not sure if there if a Facebook group for this radio as i think he said at one time he had uploaded the files there but it could be in my imagination lol.

Thanks for your reply. No, I haven't sorted out the programming error yet.

Are you using the newest version of the software? If so, maybe find an older version. I've got a version which I know works with my 6900 I could send if needed. Radio programming software should never need to be run with administrator privileges, this is a throw back from the days when user account control first came to Windows (Vista) and software wasn't designed for it.

The programming software I am using is V7.01, which connects to the radio, the other versions will give a message saying "wrong version". Someone did respond in the FB CRT SS6900 users group, suggesting to first do a "factory reset" before programming the radio.

The error is related to Visual Basic for Applications, VBA. It could be worth seeing if you have any updates for Windows or VBA that need installing.

Hi, I also had this problem with runtime error 6 on my K-PO DX 5000 Plus. Resetting didn't work either, what worked for me was doing this procedure again: Switching between CB and 10 meters is easy and involves holding down two keys (FUN + SRF) while switching on the radio, after which you’re presented with two options: 1Band (10 meters) or 2Band (CB, 240 channels). Select one and press FUN again, and switch the radio off and on again.

Hi GNCH,
'Switching between CB and 10 meters is easy and involves holding down two keys (FUN + SRF) while switching on the radio, after which you’re presented with two options: 1Band (10 meters) or 2Band (CB, 240 channels). Select one and press FUN again, and switch the radio off and on again."
You done me a good turn here i was struggling with this error and your solution worked great.
I guess both radio and pc software have to contain same variables , so do the menu 1band thing first. write to radio , read radio and then do your codeplug before sending it back and saving is what i done to get it working .
