Bought myself a Nano VNA recently. Had a dabble with it yesterday. Turned a length of thick copper wire into a 2m/70cm antenna to use on my mag mount. Its only a rough looking thing but its usable..... or it would be if I was licenced. VNA showed all the right numbers anyway. Also turns out the centre load from the CB antenna that accompanied the said mag mount, turns out, on its own, its perfect for 446MHz. Thats my Baofeng mobile setup sorted
Also just delivered today from Amazon, a couple of simple kits for me to try.
They're only cheap so if make a mess of them its no great loss. Plus I can always use the bits for other stuff.
The VNA is a cracking bit of kit for what it cost. Just gotta learn how to use it to its full potential now. SWR and Impedance is my limit at the moment but there's loads of stuff on the interweb to guide me.

Had a VNA some time ago but couldn't get my head round it so i gifted it to our Victor when he said he was playing around with aerials good home for it i though. Recently i started getting problems with my endfed aerial so bought another VNA but this time i did some homework and got my head round it. Long one short. Started building unun's balun's testing and so on learnt a lot. I now have an endfed just over 20mtr long that will work on any HF band but using a 5:1 unun witch i have made a few of and might just put one up fore sale with a length of wire could keep me busy.
