Hi all,
I was wondering if any other 6900V owners have encountered the same issue as I recently have with this radio? On the CB 41 years anniversary night, I decided to activate the Noise Cancelling circuit ( FUNCTION Key to option 8 then switch to the on position ). But on doing this, I receive absolutely no audio; it's as if someone has turned off the audio circuit and unplugged the aerial lead? Switching off/on again does nothing. If it go back to the menu and switch the NR to off, the radio works fine again. I'm hoping I haven't got a duffer.

Hi Tim,
I don't own the 6900V but did take a scout around to see if I could help any.
On the official CRT site the radio is listed as "SS 6900 V BLUE V7 NRC BOARD INCLUDED". See the link below :-
However on every supplier that currently lists this radio they have it marked as supplied with this board or "NRC included".
I can only presume that the often exclaimed 'chip shortage' may have affected initial production of this radio so maybe it was not fitted to early/certain production runs or perhaps it was an original option?
Otherwise you could well be right in that you might have a defective unit with a board that doesn't work. I wouldn't know without taking a peer inside such a radio and unfortunately I haven't taken a look for service diagrams to be able to confirm the theory either. (Might be worth a read of the user manual too in case there's some other setting you have to make.)
Worth looking for your original order receipt to see if it has any markings with NRC included or contacting the supplier you obtained it from to see if you can either get the situation rectified or verify your original order.
Anyway, I hope that's of some help.
All the best, Victor

Hi Victor,
Thanks for your information. I have contacted the retailer about this now and am waiting to hear back. They've been very helpful in the past on a mic related wiring question and have an excellent reputation, so fingers crossed they have a quick solution.

Hi, if you go to option 8 in the menu and toggle NR on you should notice a significant reduction in noise but not silence, the nr function is brilliant you should also be able to toggle it on, off , on , off etc without leaving that menu. Make sure your volume is up and try it on a channel thats busy to confirm if its faulty

Hi WRCK,
Yes I tried every solution. I sent a video of the issue to the seller and they have agreed it's a board fault and offered to fix the rig.
Regards,
Tim

The v is latest version. Has a few extra features the n doesn't, not just including the NRC circuit talked about above and the ability to send CTCSS/DCS tones for repeaters. If you look on seller sites like Knights they list all the new extra features.

I'm pleased to say I now have a brand new replacement 6900V courtesy of Knights. Excellent service by Doug!
My location means I'm more of a listener than broadcaster, but switching on the NRC on this new rig for the calling channels does make a big difference.

Hi Tim
Pleased to hear that with the help of Knights you have been sent a replacement radio.
I've absolutely no connection with Knights (not even as a customer) but it's great to hear that there are still businesses around that provide good customer service.
