Here's the sound level of the amplifier, now fitted with sound dampening material...

A fitting name for its sound. I do love the metal finish though so hope you're not going to give it an orange lick of paint...

Good brand that Flymo. Victor runs a Flymo antenna.

Painting is a real hassle, as I would have to use a special primer for aluminium.

It's from a Bosch Alan. Lot less bovver than a........oh wait, that's the other one.
Bit of a whir going on there Ian but if it's keeping it all cool and working who's to complain.
It's only when it's married up to certain setups that it becomes a problem.......
"The name this way is Brian..." (What's that all about?) "Currently running a H**l boom mike." (Ah, that's why I can hear the whir in the background...and the dog passing wind....or was that you? )
Great job there Ian and you should be suitably proud of your efforts. Well done. (Love the Dymo labels!)

I removed GI-6B valve from the RF deck and replaced it with the original GI-46B valve. I've removed 3 transformers and replaced them with a single toroidal one. This supplies the high voltage, 12.6V AC for the valve heater and 17V AC for the 12V DC rectifier (relays, etc).
It'll still do 400W, but the GI-46B valve is a bit more robust that the GI-6B version...
I've also added a better HV rectifier board, bought bare from eBay. It's now working, so I'm not spending anymore time and money on it. It'll put it away to one side, to collect dust...

Post script... I couldn't get the efficiency from the GI-46B valve I was expecting, so I put the old GI-6B valve in - Bingo! The GI-6B valve is performing as it should and I'm getting the performance I expected.
