So recently, I've dug out my Uniden Uniace 200 and a friend has given me his Audioline PT-341 that's seen the best part of 35 years in his loft. They've both needed switch cleaner and replacement Caps and are now working fine. But I am blown away by the audio and sensitivity of these old timers compared to my CRT6900. I got my Uniden from a Alan Pond garage in Hertfordshire back in 1982 purely because it was £10 on the cost of filling up my car - so I never really considered it a serious FM radio. I love my CRT6900 but it feels "souless" compared with the old boys :-)

I totally agree with you. I have always used older rigs. And I can honestly say I feel the same way about new ones. The older ones have indeed got more feeling to them, and don't feel plasticy and false. I have only recently sold my Rotel RVC-240. That was an amazing rig. Totally standard, as I don't agree with doctoring old units. I mainly sold it because I hadn't got room for many rigs, and the one I am using now (Midland 77-104UK) I've had that since new, and recently had it realigned and serviced. Because of its small size, its perfect for my van, and it is still classed as an "older" rig. I hope you thoroughly enjoy using your old classics again. The price of many of the older ones are going mad on ebay. All the best, Chris.

Does anyone know anyone in the nottingham/derby area that fixes old rigs? cowboys and garden fork users need not apply.
