4 metre Band

Chedworth Airfield would be unlikely unless miracles happen. I don't even get anywhere near that area on CB so 70MHz is definitely not going to get there from where I am in London. I'm in too much of a dip. London itself is also in a dip in general in most parts. So unless I'm on high ground, for me, working beyond the M25 is a bit of a struggle.

I ordered a SQBM412 70MHz ground plane base antenna that will fit my attic. Hopefully it will arrive and in good time. I wanted to get my 4 meter project on its way so easier and simpler just to buy an antenna.

I noticed a DMR repeater on the 4 meter band... why? I can see lots of people using that


I've just been waiting in anticipation for my 4 meter antenna to arrive. I will test it first before I install it in the attic to make sure its working as it should, hopefully it will be good without faults... I may need to get more coax... I think I've got enough RG8 but if not I can get more.

Edit: Yep I will need to order a 10m length of RG8. My longest length I have is 5 meters and I need one more meter so I'll order a 10 meter length... that will give me plenty to play with plus I may need to add a common mode choke but I'll see how things go upon testing and then I'll decide if I need a common mode choke or not.
