I don't doubt it John and always worth enjoying whatever Mother Nature brings us.
We struggle a bit in our area on the CB frequencies and a quick shifty at the local KiwSDR will show you why :-

That noise running right across the CB frequencies is not a problem with the KiwiSDR but across the whole local area unfortunately. Never lets up either apart from maybe dropping in strength on mid-block.
Another reason why I got my 'ticket'.

No joke.. but I really thought you were for a moment Victor, I clicked the SDR link and a song was playing, the first words I heard after clicking was "we're two of a kind silence and I", and I was like "huh!?". I really was thinking, how did you get it to do that But of course you didn't. Tuned off of medium wave and tuned to CB. Some kind of PLT? I feel for you.
Steve and John, what sort of time has the great skip been rolling in? Time's a bit short during daylight hours at the moment but will try to squeeze a few minutes in if and when I can.

Ah, should've mentioned that the SDR would plop straight to the owner configuration the first time you access it Neal.
Horrendous isn't it? Never lets up, 24/7! If it's PLT then someone's got it hooked up to a linear and antenna because that's it for miles around! Once in a random blue moon it goes away (rarely, or shifts frequency) and suddenly you can hear CB activity further afield but with that sort of nonsense I'm hardly surprised there's no local activity.
Stops at 10m though doesn't it? Sometimes you can get through on UK channel 40!

Morning all. Radio is a wide church. I’m in some ways opposite to yourself Victor in that I love the spontaneity of 11m in skip season. I’m afraid if I got a ham license id be resorting to discussing how to cook eggs ad cooking programs on tv which I hear on my scanner through the local repeater most days. I’m certainly not knocking you for what you do and you have to either Chang’s hobby or move if you have the constant interference on 11m that your area has. As you know 11m isn’t protected in any way and the cheap Chinese electronics is causing havoc with no one policing the industries to shield their products against this sort of thing. Add to that the publics demand for cheaper imported goods rather than paying more for better products and it’s a huge problem that will probably effect the health and wellbeing of the entire population in time to come. As you say we have to enjoy the benefits of the natural effects as and when we can and thank God for all the blessings sent our way in whatever form they take. All the best John

It can all be quite spontaneous on the other bands too John and luckily 10m and 12m are pretty clear from interference in my area.
Maybe by thought or even design I've managed to travel my own path down the Amateur Radio route exploring recycled construction in ways I can enjoy with no means of income. I can be happily preoccupied by events other than main stream touting.
The interference is really bad in my area and I feel sorry for those that can't enjoy the CB frequencies around here but luckily there are other options if you wish to enjoy the all encompassing aspect of the radio hobby. More than enough diversity to wet anyone's appetite.
