Hi recently bought a baofeng t1 mini handy have had a friend program some local repeaters over my way into it, but would like to have more knowledge on how to use this, questions... I am in fife Scotland How far could I expect to reach out from here ? Has any friends from England Ireland Wales had qso with friends in Scotland ? Are there any local users near my location ? Are there any physical clubs running for baofeng users?

The T1 is the lowest power radio that they do, even line of sight if the repeater is on a hill, I’d estimate no more than 3 miles absolute tops I have a pair of them just for fun and as I can’t resist just about every model Programming is via a cable and chirp, you can easily put PMR on and legal at this power, or yes program to anything in the 70cm range

The T1 Mini is extremely low power. 1watt at the most, on high power. Can legally be used on the PMR frequencies if you have it set to TX on low power. As for range, those will be even less than line of sight if you're using simplex (radio to radio). If you can hit a repeater locally that will be good... but again, bear in mind it's a UHF handy, and extremely limited on power and range. So I wouldn't expect anything great from them. I have one and I managed about 40km from radio to radio, with Razz2290 but we were on hilltops.
