I enjoyed the 10m summer Challenge very much, and felt a bit empty when it was over.
I'm wondering if there would be any interest in a 10m 'sprint' or two in the winter months?

If any other challenges of any type on 10m take place I would definitely have a go at joining in. Happy doing anything on any modes or over any times spans.
I would be happy to organise and run with too if there is enough interest. Just mindful though that CT might have an 11m winter contest, so wouldn't want to detract from that.

I was thinking of just a short challenge, say 9 days including 2 weekends. Or even over just one weekend. Same rules as summer challenge. Deb

Al (Chaos - 163CT777) usually runs the CT 11m challenge but he hasn't been around much recently so I do hope he is keeping well.
I see no reason why anyone couldn't run an unofficial challenge for the interest of other members if they're up for it. Obviously as an admin I could help out by making score postings a 'sticky' in the appropriate section, so long as others are keeping track of scores as my workload with call signs etc. does already take up a fair amount of my voluntary time.
I always like the postings within the Amateur 'Contacts' sections and always pleased to see QSO reports from members. Sometimes those postings can be informative too and enthuse others to try similar prospects.
Don't forget that we also have the 'Black Pearl' section for 11m contacts within the 'DX Lounge' that is only available to view for registered members who are logged in.
Never forget that Charlie Tango is made up of and for the benefit of the many wonderful people that frequent here so anything that adds to our radio interests is always welcome.
All the best, Victor

Deb, and everyone, what do you think about running these potential challenges as contest-in-contests? What I mean by that is if there is a fair size contest on, like there has been this weekend, we could run our own challenge over the same period as an official contest. That's a win for members in more than one way, as there is almost a guarantee that there will be some activity on the band, plus if people want to submit entries to the official contest as well they can do.

Brilliant idea, Neal I'm up for it.
I spent a very pleasant afternoon chasing north American stations (they got 3 points for contacts outside their continent I believe)
10m was wall to wall from 28.250 to over 29.000 (insane lol)
I logged over 100 contacts

How about the ARRL 2 day world wide 10m contest December 14-15?

That could be a good one to run alongside. I would be happy to go with that. Just had a quick scan through the rules and see both phone and CW can be used. Do we want to keep to just phone SSB as per our summer challenge? I don't mind either way.
Anyone else reading this thread be interested in joining in something like this?

I suggest we keep to the contest rules CW and SSB, and all stations not just country codes. That way anyone here who wants to do CW can. Perhaps for us though, just 1pt per contact to make scoring simple.
As you said further up, participants here can also submit a log to the contest.
I hope others here participate in our unofficial 'challenge' but even if they don't it'd be me and you Neal
Let's go for it.

I'm good with that.. Dec 14 & 15. 1pt for every contact, not just for every country. SSB & CW allowed.
I'll set an official thread up for it in a couple of weeks time. Probably just do the one thread for score posting with the leaderboard as the first post to keep it simple all in one.
If anyone else wants to join in then do let know below.

Excellent
It's only two days, so maybe one post by entrants at the end of each day, or just one with final scores at the end?
I'll post call sign, frequency, and day/time for each contact. But up to you what you want others to do.
Looking forward to it
Deb

I think we said phone and CW previously as that's what is allowed in the ARRL 10m contest at the same time.
If no one wants CW I'm more than fine to drop and just do phone. For sure I wouldn't have the edge over anyone by using that mode, no worries there, if anyone heard me working any stations in this past weekend's LZ contest they'd agree. Practice make perfect, and I need a lot of it lol LZ DX Soapboxes

It's worth mentioning that our 10m winter sprint coincides (intentionally) with the ARRL 10m contest.
That means you will certainly make contacts with stations calling CQ contest. Those stations will expect an identifying state or province inside the USA, or a serial number if not a US station. Not sure if a 'serial number' is a QSO number or a locator.
Just for interest, the rules (not our rules) for that contest are here.

Just a challenge so doesn't matter if you only dip in. It'll be interesting seeing what stations are worked. Hope you get some time to participate.
