I bought down a Colt 320 DX Black Shadow CB radio from the attic which I bought many years ago off ebay but I've lost the mic for it so haven't been able to properly test it and I was just curious if anybody had any info on this rig?
It has FM/AM/USB/LSB I haven't looked inside of it to see if its been modded or not but will do that tomorrow. I'm thinking about setting this one up some time. What channels/frequencies does it cover?
It looks like its had the like clarifier mod.

I had a quick look at it today and it does the FCC AM MID band. It puts out 14 watts straight out the back on AM/FM which seems a bit high, I will test a bit more of it later as I'm a bit tired and its been a long day. It transmits on all modes and receives well. I did find a mic that sort of works with it, enough to test the transmit audio on SSB but I will need to swap a couple of wires inside the mic to have it working properly with the radio.
I had to touch two pins together in the mic socket to hear sound but when the mic is plugged in there is no sound but can test transmit just fine so its just a case of wiring the mic correctly.
I would also like to back that power down on FM & AM so I'll need to find out more about this radio so I know what everything does. What it should be doing is 4 watts on FM/AM & 12 watts SSB.
The problem with these old SSB CB radios is that nearly all of them have had modifications and tweaks done to them by there original owners.

Correction on the transmitter section, info on the web says it should do 7.5 watts on AM/FM but 4 watts would still be more ideal.
The only old SSB rig I have that is completely original and untouched and boxed is a Tri Star 777

Swap the mic wires top to bottom. With the U at the top the 2 on the left swap and the 2 on the right swap over top to bottom.
