【NOTE】 • FM mode can only be turned on when the GSOC controller is used together.
Okay, firstly I will get pics of my waterfall if you really want them, and
All I can say is I have the Firmware version 1.7.7 and as I said previously it has Narrow FM on the mode switch and I earwigged in on the UK40 CH19 earlier, whether you can have WFM and FM if the controller is connected I don't know?, and I will not be finding out anytime soon as yes the controller is too pricey for what it is Cheers Tony
First pic showing 3 signals around T5, 2nd pic showing my personalisation of the Radio and the third showing in top left the NFM Selected, cheers all

I stopped umming and ahing and bought one, from same place as you Tony. I found a few places on the net that had them for under £100, but something was telling me that I would never see the item and lose my money, so went with the UK supplier.
Only had a chance for a quick play this evening. Very impressed, especially with the atu.. I've got the feeling it could tune a breezeblock. I ran it on my 10//11m inverted v first on 20m and got a contact into Slovenia on the second try. Then again on 17m and got straight back to HB9DEN who I've talked to before on 10m. I look forward to see what it can do with antennas that are meant for the bands in the future.
Can confirm mine came with FM also.

Well Done Neal, I agree if you see something that's too good to be true it probably is!
I was pleasantly surprised with the RX Front End sensitivity, and yes the ATU is very quick it even tuned up on my Scanner Antenna
....or at least put it up for suggestion to the Wireless International Funding Executive.
Like that Victor, glad to see someone else with a decent Managing Director in the shack

Sinotel, Alan. Delivered within 24hrs of ordering.. good for those that don't like a wait. Packaged very well.
It will be a while before, and if, I put the G90 on 11m Tony. I can see it's only a "simple" single component removal for the mod, but just in case I should bu**er it up, I'll use it for it's intended purpose for a bit first. Explaining a purchase like this to the WIFE is one thing, explaining repair costs because of voided warrantee in the same week is pushing it. The receive on 11m is better than the 6900 though, definitely lower unwanted noise coming through.

I reckon mines had the mod done to it (bought second hand) but not sure as no one has come back to me on 11 meters. Some people online said that if you try to key up on 11 meters you'll get an error? Anyone confirm this?

Ye, I can confirm the Mod is simple, small soldering iron and a toothpick to lever it up of the board, even with my eyesight it was visible with a magnifying glass. I bought mine specifically to use on 10/11m so knew that I would void the warranty.
I do agree if you don't need or want it for Wideband then leave it well alone:)

G90 owner here myself and can 100% confirm it has NFM as standard no GSOC a required or recommended. Unfortunately the GSOC got a bad press for reliability issues etc and as pointed out price wise doesn’t make any sense.
Ive decided to put my G90 in the car now, and have the SS9900 in the shack. The G90 comes with a separation cable for the head unit, supplied as standard which doesn't happen with any other radio these days. another positive for the Xiegu

With the warrantee pretty much up now (that year went fast!) I did the frequency open up mod today. I actually found it nerve wracking to do. Online vids made the component look larger than it is in reality. With my atrocious close up vision it was like trying to split an atom. Used my phone camera zoom-in as a magnifying glass, which also made my (what I though was a narrow tipped) soldering iron look like a fat finger compared to the diode.
Done though, and it's working. Phew!

LOL Neal Them parts are ffff small. I have a needle point tip and it looks like a 6" nail with a microscope. But i can get under one end and lift the part so it can be put back sometime if needed.

I've always found a 3mm or so soldering iron tip to be easier along with some good solder and the help of some desoldering wick......that and my magnifying visor!
