| Hello everyone, Kevin from Kent here. I'm returning to CB after a short absence of 30 ish years! I've been considering this for a while but now seemed like the appropriate time. I'm using a President Lincoln 2+ with a Solorcon A99 for homebase and Thunderpole Voyager for static mobile. Rather annoyingly I get s3-s7 static noise permanently when using at home. I've traced this to two powerlines which are on poles in the village..any suggestions on dealing with this would be much appreciated. Managed to find a good location close by for static mobile which seems to work really well so this might be the way forward for me? When I've found my way around this web site I'd love to get onto a DX net for some longer distance contacts Many Thanks | |

| Hi Kevin, Welcome to Charlie Tango. We had problems with the power poles running through the village causing noise and then eventually a poor squirrel bit the dust causing a blackout. After some complaints to the power company a series of contractors appeared cutting back trees and replacing insulators on the lines. No more blackouts but although the RF noise is much reduced it's still there unfortunately. A lot of members here go mobile to reach more remote areas and much reduced noise conditions especially for a bit of DX. Just another sign of modern times I'm afraid. Enjoy the forum and your call sign. All the best, Victor | |
