Hi all,

Has anyone programmed the SS9900 to its full coverage from 24.880 - 30.000 please?  I've been very happy with mine since I bought it a couple of years ago, as it came pre-programmed from a UK supplier with most of the lovely 10-12m frequencies on it and the UK FM band, all of which I've enjoyed immensely and made great contacts on! I'm just thinking that I can expand a bit on the original band in order to cover the full 10-12m UK allocation?  I have the programming lead and software, and chirp, so it'll either remain a working radio, or be demoted to a door-stop after I've been at it.

Cheers chaps,

Simon.

Hi Alan,

It's a 'licence' thing as I've just passed my foundation. One of the local groups operate an ssb net on the highest frequency my radio can currently handle, which got me thinking that maybe I should look to expand it further, just in case, and until I get a new radio!

Don't think you can change the bands that are already there.
All you can do with the software / cable is to change your menu, change your roger beeps and add more beeps.

As far as I'm aware the 9900 is fully programmable. I was also under the impression that it can be put into VFO mode and you can simply scroll through the band.

A little late but here it is:
Here’s how to modify your new SS9900

SS-9900 Coverage Unlock Procedure

CRT SS 9900 10/11/12m SSB AM FM SSB CB Radio

1) Press and hold both the menu and band buttons whilst switching on.

2) when the radio comes on let go of both the buttons,

you should see the txt “hf band” on the screen”.

3) Turn the channel selector 1 click till the txt “cb band” is displayed.

4) press and hold the menu button till the display changes.

5) Turn the radio off then back on, the display should read a

frequency around 25 mhz, the procedure is now complete.

Do bear in mind that this will erase any other programmed frequencies that are already in the radio.

Sorry for posting on an old thread but I just spent half the day programming the frequencies on an SS9900. I don't think it is possible to change the number of bands, as such, but the frequencies can certainly be programmed. Also, it is possible to set a channel (and, by extension) a band of channels to a particular mode e.g. the FM channels (A band on my rig) could be set to be always FM, then go back to how it was on any other band.

I just re-organised the 10m bands to go from 28.010 (ch 1) in 10KHz steps without all the A channels, which makes no sense on 10m.

Also make a new, short Roger Bleep since all of the ones on there are a bit OTT.
