Get those mics at the ready boys, as from tomorrow for seven days it’ll be the best conditions on all types of propagation, as I’ll be abroad for a week!
I’ll be taking my little Tecsun PL-368 receiver to Malta, so at least I can have a listen. I was thinking about taking the recently acquired Albrecht 2990, but I’m too concerned it’ll get either stolen or confiscated.
Save some decent conditions for when I get back please!

Nice one Al. I'm very close to the Welsh border but haven't managed one there yet this year.
I've not a lot of spare time currently, and when I do there doesn't seem to be whole lot going on

Doesn't seem to be many around here, N Wales, a lot local but just over the border, lots of hills so not good for local contacts. Never had as many contacts as this year, mind you I've not been retired before Been some cracking contacts by us all

I haven’t even heard a GW on 10 Metres in the 3 years I’ve been back on the radio! To my North and N East the granite of Exmoor gets in the way, but NW I’ve a reasonable take off over the sea towards Pembrokeshire. I can but hope eventually there’ll be some activity from that direction
Nothing heard at all on 10 the week we were in Malta, seems like I haven’t missed much. Only a solitary EA worked since we came back on the 28th, the band has seemed grim…

Time available and poor band conditions have meant no contacts during the week for me. I did manage one into Finland yesterday which made me happy, but not a new one for the challenge.
Because it has been so dead skip wise, I have put a few calls out specifically for Wales, but nothing back. I think the only way I might manage one to there is to go up the road a few miles on a bit higher ground.

Just checked my scribbles Craig and pretty sure it was, just that I recognised your call sign when he called you. He wasn't just knocking on the door but sitting here in the shack!!
When I get this bigger toroid through the snail mail I should be cooking on gas.
Well done with Uganda and hopefully this 10m lift carries on for a bit.

Hey nice one Alan and I’ve found that with data modes the contacts get confirmed almost straight away unlike voice ones which can take a little longer if at all lol
Pleased to confirm our 40m contact yesterday on 40m

It was nice to have a few 10m QSOs today John, but unfortunately no points gained. I was using my full 10W. Had to look up what an Albrecht 2990 was.. looks a great handie, but don't think I can afford one a the moment
Well done on Monaco! I failed. He went QRT the first time I called him Also heard GW1MNC strong on a brief bit of very short skip, just over the water from you I think, but he went QRT the first time I called him too
I am going to go portable this evening, first time properly for a quite while. Mostly to have a little go at the RSGB FMAC 144MHz short contest (if I've got the role-up j pole measurements right, haven't even tried it yet), but will stick up a wire for HF afterwards to see what's about. Maybe I might get a point for Wales yet...

Hi John. Sorry, missed your earlier post. Hope you had a good holiday.
Craig - I've had 43 confirmed countries in the short time I gave digi-modes a go again......but less than half of my QSO's are confirmed!? (Not getting into that LOTW/eQSL etc. nonsense either. If it's in my log that's good enough for me.)
Should have my parts by the end of the week and join back in with some voice.
