Good Morning, Just a quick question if anyone can help ? Have obtained a Harrier HQ Basestation/Homebase however it has no mic. Any ideas on what mic it came with when new ? Also looking for a Harrier CBX boxed to complete " mid life crisis" collection !!!!, top, top price paid. Thanks for looking, Fires 911

Hi "Fires911",
My apologies but no name is given.
Welcome to Charlie Tango and from what I can gather, your very first posting.
A microphone for your Harrier will be a standard four pin Cybernet chassis wiring obtainable from many resellers. I couldn't tell you what the O.E.M. microphone was never owning one from new and being so lost in the mists of time rarely see a CB with it's original microphone of that era. (Seems to be the first thing changed or most 'lost' item!)
It might be worth a peruse around some of the historical sites such as 'radiopics.com' (which seems to be currently down but hopefully still exists) or a scan around 'worldhistory.com' who have an extensive archive of old radio magazines and publications available. I'm sure one of the old CB magazine adverts will have a picture of the Harrier along with microphone options. You might have to do some leg work yourself scouring the archive.
Otherwise maybe one of our members may recollect from memory or have a better source to hand.
As for searching for a particular radio it may be worth posting in our 'classified adverts' section of the forum as this posting could soon be lost amongst further post entries.
Good luck with your search.
All the best, Victor

Spot on Al,
I still own a Harrier CBHQ and it's still got the original microphone with it.
They were called a "Coffin mic" and are pretty easy to pick up on the net.
73's Gary.

I also thought any mic of that shape was called a 'coffin' style for obvious visual reasons.
Remember seeing that style of mic in your posted picture Alan on a Harrier CBX (many moons ago!) with the slope on the grille.
Didn't know you had a CBHQ there Gary and nice you've hung onto it.

I stand edumacated Mr Alan.
This one looks very much like the first picture you posted :-
No wonder so many people change microphones as there's a plethora to choose from! (Let alone how different they all apparently sound.)
